Rajasthan to Become Role Model for Successful Implementation of New Criminal Laws: Chief Secretary

Jaipur, Sept 2025: Chief Secretary Mr. Sudhansh Pant has stated that the new criminal laws will strengthen the country’s judicial process while enabling the public to access swift and effective justice. He instructed officials to work diligently to ensure the successful implementation of these laws in Rajasthan, in line with the vision of Chief Minister Mr. Bhajanlal Sharma, and position the state as a role model for the entire nation.

Mr. Pant chaired a review meeting at the Secretariat on the effective implementation of the Indian Penal Code, Indian Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act. He directed the police department to ensure that investigating officers are thoroughly trained on all provisions of the new laws. Additionally, public awareness campaigns should be conducted to familiarize citizens with these changes.

The Chief Secretary highlighted that the new laws include provisions for electronic recording of witness statements, filing FIRs, and issuing summons, which will make the judicial process more transparent while saving time and resources. He instructed the relevant departments to set up video conferencing rooms, modernize forensic laboratories, provide high-speed internet at police stations, appoint sufficient personnel, and ensure availability of modern equipment.

Director General of Police Mr. Rajiv Kumar Sharma emphasized that regular monitoring of investigations and procedures under the new laws must be conducted. He advised that district-level officers hold frequent review meetings and address implementation challenges promptly. Departments must maintain coordination to ensure efficient and effective enforcement of the laws.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Mr. Bhaskar A. Sawant, Finance Secretary (Expenditure) Mr. Naveen Jain, Secretary, Information & Communication Technology, Ms. Archana Singh, and senior officials from other relevant departments.
