New Delhi, Oct, 2025: Dr. Vanlalthlana, School Education Minister, met with representatives of the Vahani Scholarship Trust earlier today at Mizoram House, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.

Pi Rashmani Singh, Managing Director of the Vahani Scholarship Trust, briefed the Minister about the Trust’s work, highlighting its efforts in encouraging and supporting meritorious students through scholarships, academic guidance, and mentoring. Dr. Vanlalthlana appreciated the Trust’s initiative, especially its focus on supporting students from Mizoram.

The Vahani Scholarship selects students in 12 categories, with 85% of students coming from Pawl 10 and three students from each community cluster receiving scholarships for a year. Applications and interviews are conducted online, and the selection period for this year runs from October 1 to November 1, 2025.

The scholarship covers academic fees, tuition, hostel charges, textbooks, laptop stipend, internet allowance, and living expenses for undergraduate students. In addition, students are provided with mentorship, career counselling, internships, and skill development opportunities, ensuring comprehensive support for their academic and professional growth.

On the same day, Dr. Vanlalthlana also met Pi Debjani Ghosh, Distinguished Fellow at NITI Aayog and Chief Architect of NASSCOM, to discuss industry-aligned skill development and curriculum improvements for Mizoram Engineering College (MEC).

Dr. Vanlalthlana emphasized that NITI Aayog’s guidance would help align MEC’s syllabus with industry-relevant skills, enabling Mizoram students to gain expertise in technology and engineering fields. Collaboration with institutions such as MZU, NIT, and Software Technology Park of India (STPI) is expected to strengthen Mizoram’s technology ecosystem. The discussions focused on enabling the state government to foster a robust IT and technology hub, ensuring better career opportunities for local students and enhancing the region’s technical education infrastructure.
