Global Giants Line Up to Invest in Punjab: Chief Minister
Bengaluru/Chandigarh, Oct 2025 : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today described Punjab as one of the world’s most promising investment destinations while holding a series of meetings with leading industrialists in Bengaluru.
Speaking with prominent business leaders, the Chief Minister called Punjab a land of immense opportunities and invited renowned global companies to invest in the state. He said that entrepreneurs would gain significant advantages by investing in Punjab, which is rapidly emerging as a major industrial hub of India. Mann highlighted that Punjab’s atmosphere of harmony, peace, and brotherhood forms the foundation for its comprehensive growth and prosperity.
The Chief Minister stated that electricity is the engine of economic growth, and the Punjab Government is ensuring uninterrupted power supply to residential, commercial, and agricultural sectors alike. He urged company representatives to take full advantage of the state’s robust infrastructure, reliable power, skilled human resources, and industry-friendly environment for expanding their businesses. Welcoming the investors, Mann said the government is always open to innovative ideas and research that promote industrial development.
He also invited the business leaders to participate in the sixth edition of the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit, to be held in Mohali from March 13–15, 2026, where industrialists, policymakers, and researchers will share ideas to take Punjab’s industrial growth to new heights. He emphasized that the expertise and vision of the industry are crucial for shaping Punjab’s future and that the summit would serve as an ideal platform for showcasing the state’s potential, exploring collaborations, and building partnerships.
Mann underlined Punjab’s industrious spirit, entrepreneurial mindset, and rich heritage, noting that it holds the proud distinction of being India’s food bowl, making a major contribution to the nation’s food production. Over the past three years, Punjab has witnessed significant transformation and progress in its industrial sector. Today, it has emerged as a leading hub for food processing, textiles, auto parts, hand tools, bicycles, IT, tourism, and other sectors.
Highlighting the state’s growing global recognition, the Chief Minister said that investors across the world have realized Punjab’s potential. Since March 2022, the state has received investment proposals worth ₹1.23 lakh crore, expected to generate over 4.7 lakh jobs. Mann added that it is a matter of pride that global giants like Nestlé, Claas, Freudenberg, Cargill, Verbio, and Danone have already set up operations in Punjab, significantly contributing to the state’s economic progress.
He pointed out that investments from Japan, the U.S., Germany, the U.K., UAE, Switzerland, France, Spain, and other nations reflect Punjab’s expanding global footprint. “This is just the beginning,” Mann said, “as Punjab has now become a preferred destination not only for Indian but also for international investors.”
Since assuming office, the Chief Minister said, his government has created a business-friendly ecosystem that encourages ease of doing business. With its industry-oriented policies, Punjab now ranks among the leading states in this area. The government has launched the FastTrack Punjab Portal, India’s most advanced single-window system, offering over 150 government-to-business (G2B) services through a unified online platform. Offline applications have been eliminated, and under the Punjab Right to Business Act, eligible projects worth up to ₹125 crore receive in-principle approval within just five days.
Mann noted that Punjab is the first state to introduce major regulatory reforms, including time-bound approvals within 45 days, deemed approvals, escalation mechanisms, and extended validity for key licenses. Real-time investor support is ensured through WhatsApp alerts, AI chatbots, and call centers. Additionally, the use of digital CRO reports, extended fire NOC validity, and conversion from leasehold to freehold have further simplified business processes.
He stressed that partnership between government and industry is the key to success, asserting that industrial growth is possible only when both work as equal partners. The state’s New Industrial Policy (2022), formulated with input from industry experts, reflects this principle and aims to meet business aspirations and sectoral needs. Mann said that 24 sectoral committees, chaired by leading industry figures, have been formed to craft tailored policies for different sectors.
Reaffirming his government’s full commitment to equality, transparency, and cooperation, the Chief Minister assured investors of a smooth and supportive business journey in Punjab. He expressed confidence that stronger collaboration with the industry will further accelerate the pace of industrialization in the state.
Inviting members of the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) to the CXO forum, Mann discussed emerging opportunities in electronics, semiconductors, aerospace, and defence manufacturing. He stressed on collaborative efforts to develop Punjab’s semiconductor and electronics ecosystem by leveraging Mohali’s strong academic and research base. With its skilled workforce and modern infrastructure, Mann said, Punjab can play a vital role in developing passive components and design-engineering capabilities, while also expanding its participation in the national defence manufacturing value chain.
Cabinet Minister Sanjiv Arora and several dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
