Agasti’s Career in Costume Design is Inspirational – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

CM releases the book ‘Stitching Stardom: For Icons, On and Offscreen’

Mumbai, Nov 2025 : Madhav Agasti, in his 50-year-long career in the field of costume design, created distinctive outfits for several leaders and actors. His costumes gave each personality a unique identity, and his journey—marked by dedication and hard work—is truly inspirational, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

On the occasion of renowned costume designer Agasti completing 50 years in his profession, Chief Minister Fadnavis released his book ‘Stitching Stardom: For Icons, On and Offscreen’. The event was held at Hotel Taj Lands End in Bandra. Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister for Cultural Affairs Adv. Ashish Shelar, Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, actor Akshay Kumar, film producer Boney Kapoor, former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussain, along with other distinguished personalities from the film and fashion industry, were present.

Chief Minister Fadnavis said that Madhav Agasti worked in various cities across India. Choosing to become a stylist fifty years ago was a bold decision, but through immense hard work he built his own brand. This is why today he is counted among the top stylists in the country. The Chief Minister also shared that after learning that Agasti had designed outfits for most Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, he himself wore a jacket stitched by Agasti during his oath-taking ceremony.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, producer Boney Kapoor, actor Akshay Kumar, and former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussain also praised Agasti’s work and extended their best wishes.

Expressing his thoughts on the occasion, Agasti said that while Nagpur is his birthplace, Mumbai is his workplace. He thanked everyone who supported him throughout his 50-year career, including many political leaders such as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
