Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar Meets Goa Chief Minister And Tourism Minister
Goa, Nov 2025:Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of State, Tourism Department, met Goa Chief Minister Pu Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Pu Rohan Khaunte yesterday in Goa. During the meeting, the two states discussed collaborative efforts to promote tourism and explored several initiatives aimed at benefiting Mizo and other Northeastern communities living in Goa.
Tourism Minister Pu Lalnghinglova conveyed that Mizoram is becoming an attractive, welcoming, and beautiful destination for tourists. Goa Chief Minister Pu Pramod Sawant acknowledged this, adding that apart from the state’s natural beauty, its mountains and landscapes also offer great potential for adventure tourism and sports tourism. Stating that Goa is a leading tourism hub in India, he expressed confidence that cooperation between the two states would foster mutual progress. He also said Goa is eager to learn from many tourism-related practices in Mizoram.
Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar informed the Goa Chief Minister that according to the Goa Mizo Welfare Survey, around 1,500 Mizos currently reside in Goa. He thanked the Goa government for providing livelihood opportunities not only for Mizos but also for youths from several Northeastern states. He urged the Goa government to continue ensuring the safety and necessary support for these communities.
The Goa Chief Minister warmly received the Mizoram Tourism Minister, stating that tourism-related collaboration should progress effectively. He gave assurances that concerns raised by Mizo and Northeastern workers—who face various challenges—would be examined at the Chief Minister’s Office in consultation with the Mizoram Tourism Minister. He also assured continued cooperation with the Goa Mizo Welfare Association.
Mizoram Tourism Minister and Goa Tourism Minister Pu Rohan Khaunte also held a meeting yesterday, discussing various initiatives to enhance tourism in both states.
They explored possibilities such as—
• Showcasing Mizoram’s tourist destinations and cultural events on Goa’s various digital tourism platforms,
• Organising exchange programmes in tourism and hospitality sectors,
• Collaborating on tourism promotion and skill development activities, and
• Strengthening coordinated tourism initiatives between the two states.
Pu Rohan Khaunte expressed sincere appreciation and said both states aim to effectively implement the ideas discussed and ensure productive outcomes. They agreed that continuous coordination between the two Tourism Departments is essential.
Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar also attended the ‘Zo Zan’ event organised by the Goa Mizo Welfare body. He congratulated the hardworking Mizo youths employed in Goa and encouraged them to continue living harmoniously and responsibly as representatives of their home state. He also urged them to take good care of their families back home and lead meaningful lives even while working far away.
