India Storms Into Final of 1st Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind With Dominant Win Over Australia
Colombo (Sri Lanka), Nov 2025 : India continued its commanding run at the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup Cricket for the Blind, securing a place in the final with a resounding nine-wicket victory over Australia at the historic P. Sara Oval in Colombo. The team’s clinical performance showcased their unmatched skill, confidence, and unity as they marched toward the tournament’s decisive clash.

Earlier, India strengthened its momentum with a convincing win over the United States in Match 6 — their fourth straight triumph — ensuring direct qualification for the semifinals. Opting to bat first, the USA managed 60/8 in 20 overs, with notable resistance from Tatyana (17 off 41, B2) and Caroline (12 off 26, B2). India’s disciplined bowling attack, featuring Simranjeet Kour (B2), Sunita Srathe (B2), Simu Das (B1), and Ganga Kadam (B3), maintained tight control throughout the innings. Sharp fielding added pressure, leading to multiple run-outs, while each bowler picked up a wicket.
Chasing a modest target of 61, India delivered one of the tournament’s most decisive batting displays, wrapping up the match in just 3.3 overs. Simranjeet Kour (B2) stole the spotlight with a breathtaking 31 off 12 balls, earning her the Player of the Match award. Supporting her was Kavya N.R (B3), who struck an unbeaten 21 off 12 balls, guiding India to a flawless finish.
The match highlighted India’s strength across all categories — B1, B2, and B3 — in stark contrast to the USA team’s youthful grit and determination. The American squad, passionately supported by Samarthanam USA and CABI, displayed commendable spirit despite facing a much stronger opponent.
With six nations — India, Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, and the USA — participating, the tournament marks a milestone in the global movement to promote inclusive cricket for athletes with visual impairments. The opening ceremony featured distinguished leaders from politics, diplomacy, sports, and corporate sectors, all united in celebrating the dedication and excellence of these remarkable women athletes.
India’s unbeaten journey so far and their emphatic semifinal performance make them strong contenders for the title, as they now prepare for the historic final of the first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup Cricket for the Blind.
