Environmental Restoration of 800 Acres in Tadoba Tiger Reserve Area

‘Zerodha’ Responds to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ Appeal

Zerodha allocates ₹100 crore for the ‘Rewilding’ initiative

MoU to be signed between Forest Department, Farmers for Forest, and Zerodha

Mumbai, Nov 2025 : Along with various development works in Vidarbha, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has always been keen on preserving and expanding the region’s forest wealth. Under his vision, an environmental restoration project covering 800 acres in the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve area has been initiated. Zerodha and the Rainmatter Foundation will support this project through their social responsibility initiatives.

Rewilding refers to the ecological restoration of forests, grasslands, or wetlands by minimizing human intervention and reviving natural landscapes, wildlife, and biodiversity. In line with this concept, a project has been undertaken to ecologically restore 800 acres around the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. This is Maharashtra’s first such rewilding project, to be implemented in Tadoba with collaboration between the State Forest Department, Farmers for Forest, Zerodha, and the Rainmatter Foundation. For this initiative, a special fund — the Zerodha Rewilding Fund, worth around ₹100 crore — has been created. An official announcement regarding the project will be made shortly.

Zerodha and the Rainmatter Foundation have been undertaking environmental and social initiatives. Through the Rainmatter Foundation, extensive work is being carried out on issues related to climate change and environmental degradation. For this purpose, Zerodha allocates 10 percent of its profits toward social responsibility and environmental activities. From this reserved fund, Zerodha has announced a ₹100 crore investment under the ‘Zerodha Rewilding Fund’, marking the company’s 15th anniversary. Under this initiative, ecological restoration will be carried out in ecologically important regions across the country. The objective is to restore natural balance by promoting biodiversity-based plantation methods instead of monoculture tree plantations at various locations in India. The 800-acre restoration project in the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve area of Vidarbha is part of this initiative.

Rewilding projects like this are highly beneficial for the conservation of Vidarbha’s environment. Corporate companies like Zerodha participating in such initiatives is commendable and will serve as an example not only for Maharashtra but also for the corporate sector across the country. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed confidence that this collaboration with the Maharashtra government and the Forest Department will prove fruitful.
