Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao Participates in 12th International Yoga Day Programme at Khalsa Public School

Raipur, June 2026: Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao participated in the district-level yoga programme organised at the premises of Khalsa Public School in Durg on the occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day. The event brought together public representatives, government officials, students, and citizens for a collective yoga session promoting health and well-being.

The programme, held under the chief guestship of Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, was attended by Member of Parliament Vijay Baghel, MLA Rikesh Sen, former Assembly Speaker Prem Prakash Pandey, Padma Shri awardee Usha Barle, Mayor Alka Baghmar, District Panchayat President Saraswati Banjare, Divisional Commissioner Satyanarayan Rathore, Inspector General Abhishek Sandilya, Collector Abhijeet Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Vijay Agrawal, along with officers and employees from various departments, distinguished citizens, and students from different schools across the city.

Before the commencement of the programme, Collector Abhijeet Singh welcomed Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao and other dignitaries by presenting them with bouquets.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Sao extended his greetings on International Yoga Day and highlighted this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” He urged people to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives, emphasizing its immense significance in maintaining physical fitness and mental well-being.

“Yoga is a powerful medium that contributes to both physical and intellectual development. By incorporating yoga into our everyday routine, we can lead healthier, more balanced lives,” Sao said. He also administered a pledge to the participants, encouraging them to adopt yoga regularly and promote healthy living.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Vijay Baghel welcomed the participants and described yoga as an ancient tradition of healthy living that has gained worldwide recognition. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for elevating yoga to a global platform and increasing international awareness about its benefits.

“Due to the efforts of Prime Minister Modi, people across the world now understand and appreciate the importance of yoga. International Yoga Day, celebrated on June 21, is now observed in numerous countries around the globe,” Baghel said. He encouraged citizens to follow the message: ‘Practice Yoga and Stay Healthy.’

The yoga session was conducted by instructors Prachi Bhattacharya and Dilima Majumdar, who guided participants through various breathing techniques and yoga exercises. The session included Kapalbhati Pranayama, Anulom-Vilom Pranayama, Sheeti Pranayama, Bhramari Pranayama, and several yoga postures aimed at improving physical and mental health.

The programme concluded with the melodious chanting of “Om” and the recitation of a peace prayer, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from people of all age groups, reinforcing the message of holistic wellness and highlighting the growing popularity of yoga as a way of life.
