Dr. Soumya Gurjar Meets Nirmala Sitharaman; Discusses GST Reforms and Jaipur’s Development

Jaipur, Nov 2025 — Dr. Soumya Gurjar met Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Tuesday. During the meeting, Dr. Gurjar held an in-depth discussion with the Finance Minister on the development works carried out in Jaipur and the efforts made at the local-body level towards beautification, along with the success achieved.

Dr. Gurjar also shared her views on the positive economic environment created by the GST-2 reforms in Rajasthan. She said that these reforms have provided direct relief to both the general public and traders, making life easier for all. The reforms have given a significant boost to the economy, especially in terms of employment. Dr. Soumya further shared her experiences from her tenure at the Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation.

She also discussed the financial situation of Rajasthan’s local bodies and the measures required for their strengthening. On this occasion, Dr. Soumya Gurjar presented the Finance Minister with a coffee-table book titled “Mera Jaipur Greater”, showcasing the innovative initiatives and unprecedented development works accomplished during her tenure as Mayor of Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation. The Finance Minister appreciated the book.
