Arjun Ram Meghwal Pays Tribute to Baba Saheb on Constitution Day Eve

Jaipur, Nov 2025 — Union Law Minister Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal said that Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar made an invaluable contribution to nation-building by drafting the world’s largest constitution. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi recognized this contribution and, on the occasion of Baba Saheb’s 125th birth anniversary year, designated 26 November as Constitution Day. The Prime Minister also developed five important sites associated with Baba Saheb’s life as “Panch Teerth” (Five Pilgrimage Sites).

Shri Meghwal was addressing a program organized by the Constitution Day Organizing Committee at the Ravindra Rangmanch in Bikaner district on the eve of Constitution Day.

He highlighted that the Constitution was adopted on 26 November 1949 and came into effect on 26 January 1950. Since then, 26 November was observed as Law Day, and in 2015, the Prime Minister formally recognized it as Constitution Day, celebrated annually from 2016. Today, programs across the country honor Baba Saheb’s contributions, and millions visit the Panch Teerth sites each year.

Shri Meghwal further noted that besides drafting the Constitution, Baba Saheb’s achievements include establishing the Reserve Bank of India, implementing the National Grid system, setting up the Finance Commission, preparing river valley projects, and championing labor welfare and women’s empowerment.

He emphasized that Baba Saheb prioritized equality before freedom in the Constitution, believing that if equality is achieved, freedom will automatically be secure. Baba Saheb granted every citizen the right to equal voting. Following his principles, Prime Minister Modi has integrated marginalized communities into the mainstream by providing essential facilities such as permanent housing, electricity connections, and cooking gas.
