Ujjain AIR to Mark a New Chapter in Akashvani’s History : CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that his long-standing wish to have All India Radio Ujjain Centre has finally been fulfilled. The building was ready, but the launch was postponed pending approval. Within six months of approval, AIR Centre has commenced from the Ujjain. Now this is 20th AIR centre in Madhya Pradesh.
Programs aired from here will take Ujjain’s and Simhasth’s glory far and wide. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that AIR will fulfil this responsibility with dedication. Beyond entertainment, AIR has made important contributions to public service and awareness. With daily broadcasts from 5:55 AM to 11 PM, Ujjain AIR is set to write a new chapter in the history of broadcasting. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday. The Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan was also present on the occassion.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced new development projects worth ₹179 crore for the Ujjain district, including the inauguration of the Sandipani School in Maharajwada (₹55.27 crore), the newly constructed Ujjain Railway Overbridge (₹30.21 crore), over ₹50 crore for various road construction and upgradation, new hostels for 250 boys and girls at Dhanvantari Ayurvedic College (₹32.69 crore), reptile and Snake Park (₹8.37 crore)and Hi-tech nursery (₹3 crore). He said that Ujjain is a leader in Ayurvedic treatments and plans to propose an ‘AIIMS for Ayurveda’ to the central government.
Ujjain AIR: Blending Devotion, Culture, and Heritage
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav congratulated city residents on the start of the AIR centre, describing it as a historic moment. He credited Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Minister Dr. Murugan for their efforts in making it possible. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also highlighted the spirit and devotion of Baba Mahakal that permeates Ujjain.
Ujjain is known as Lord Krishna’s learning seat and its atmosphere carries the pride of Emperor Vikramaditya. The AIR centre is expected to become a ‘Heavenly and Iconic’ voice for Ujjain, especially with the Simhasth festival coming in 2028. The government is developing all Krishna-related sites in Ujjain into pilgrimage destinations and will celebrate Gita Jayanti across the state on December 1.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav lauded AIR’s contributions to arts, culture, education, health, and agriculture, noting its role as a platform for artists and cultural practitioners. Preparations are underway for the massive Simhasth Mahakumbh in 2028, and the new AIR centre will be instrumental in broadcasting the festival’s vibrancy to millions worldwide. He also announced significant infrastructure upgrades in Ujjain, including road widening and enhanced connectivity. Innovative attractions such as the water screen projection and musical fountain show at Rudrasagar will help spread Ujjain’s legends and religious prominence. The city is also developing into a medical tourism hub, with the construction of a medicity underway, all to be ready before Simhasth 2028.
News Broadcasts in Malvi Dialect
Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan said that, starting today, AIR Ujjain will commence full-fledged broadcasting of locally produced programs. It is the 20th AIR station in the state and will serve as a training ground for youth in broadcasting and media skills. The centre will give new recognition to the Malwa region’s culture, folk arts, cuisine, and dialects. Importantly, news will also be broadcast in the Malvi dialect.

Anamika Chakravarti, Shri Krishna Das, along with public representatives, citizens and AIR staff.
