IndiGo Disruptions at Hyderabad Airport Lead to 40 Flight Cancellations in a Day

Hyderabad, Dec 2025 : Widespread operational disruptions by IndiGo at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad resulted in the cancellation of 40 flights on Wednesday, causing severe inconvenience to hundreds of passengers.

According to airport officials, 19 departures and 21 arrivals were cancelled as of 7 p.m. on December 3. The disruption is part of a broader operational crisis that has affected IndiGo services across multiple Indian airports over the past two days.

In a statement issued on social media, RGIA clarified that flight delays and schedule changes were due to airline-related operational reasons. “We are aware that a few flights at RGIA are experiencing delays and schedule changes due to operational reasons. Our teams at the airport are working closely with the airlines to support their operations and assist passengers with timely information and guidance,” the advisory stated.

The airport authorities also reassured travellers that normal airport operations were continuing. “Operations at RGIA remain normal. Passengers are advised to check the latest status of their flights with their respective airlines before heading to the airport,” the statement added.

Over the past two days, a total of 54 flights have been cancelled at Hyderabad airport. On December 2, nine departures and five arrivals were called off, airport sources confirmed. The cancellations on key domestic routes left many travellers stranded and led to congestion at airport terminals.

On Wednesday alone, arrival flights from Visakhapatnam, Goa, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Madurai, Hubballi, Bhopal, and Bhubaneswar were cancelled. At the same time, departures to Delhi, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Hubballi, and Bhopal were also grounded.

The previous day saw additional disruptions, with arrivals from Raipur, Coimbatore, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, and Goa being cancelled. Departures to Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Raipur, Udaipur, Goa, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam were also affected. Besides cancellations, nine flights to destinations such as Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Goa, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad were delayed on Tuesday.

The prolonged disruption left several passengers stranded, particularly those with international connections via domestic routes. Many missed onward international flights and were forced to seek costly rebookings at short notice.

The cancellations also affected Ayyappa devotees travelling to Kerala for the Sabarimala pilgrimage. Several devotees who had booked IndiGo flights from Hyderabad to Kochi were stranded due to prolonged delays. One of the affected passengers complained that there was no immediate response from airline staff regarding refunds or alternative arrangements. The devotees said the disruption had jeopardised their pre-booked Sabarimala darshan slots.

Airport authorities and airline officials are now working to stabilise operations, but passenger frustration continues to mount as delays and cancellations persist across key routes.
