New Delhi: December 2025 : On the occasion of the Mahaparinirvana Diwas of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta today paid floral tribute at his Mahaparinirvana site located in Civil Lines. She offered her respects at his statue and bowed to his immense contribution to the nation. Remembering Babasaheb, the Chief Minister said that it is the collective good fortune of the nation that he chose this place for his Mahaparinirvana. She added that this site is one of the ‘Panch Teerths’ dedicated to Babasaheb by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On this significant occasion, Cabinet Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh, MLA Suryaprakash Khatri and other distinguished guests were also present. The Chief Minister said that the life and ideals of Dr Ambedkar continue to inspire society to walk the path of social harmony, equality and justice. His invaluable contribution to the drafting of the Constitution and his lifelong struggle for the rights of the marginalised remain as relevant today as ever.

The Chief Minister noted that the development of Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvana site as one of the ‘Panch Teerths’ is a historic and visionary initiative undertaken by the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The objective is to preserve the key sites associated with Babasaheb’s life as national memorials and establish them as cultural and ideological heritage, so that present and future generations may draw inspiration from his ideas and struggles.

According to the Chief Minister, the Prime Minister’s initiative goes beyond the construction of memorials; it also aims to carry the values of social justice, equality and the Constitution to every citizen.

The Chief Minister said that today she began her day by paying homage to Babasaheb at this sacred Mahaparinirvana site. She emphasised that her government is fully committed to giving this site global recognition. She added that since this is a place closely associated with Babasaheb, the government aims to develop it as a world-class tourist destination of global significance. The government is also preparing a plan to bring schoolchildren here to learn about this important historic site. The Chief Minister said that every person visiting India or Delhi should come here at least once to pay respects at Babasaheb’s feet.

The Chief Minister said that it is essential for all citizens to follow Babasaheb’s guidance and walk the path he showed, so that the nation can continue to progress. She appealed to all citizens to follow Babasaheb’s ideals and help build a stronger and more inclusive nation.
