Efforts Should Be Made to Mainstream Tribal Society Through Education – Cooperation Minister Dilip Valse Patil

Pune : Cooperation Minister Dilip Valse Patil emphasized the importance of integrating tribal communities into the mainstream through education while ensuring that their constitutional rights are upheld.

He spoke at a program organized by the Integrated Tribal Development Project Ghodegaon office at Kotamdara on the occasion of World Tribal Day. The event was attended by Sub-Divisional Officer Govind Shinde, Tehsildar Sanjay Nagtilak, Assistant Group Development Officer Archana Kolhe, Integrated Tribal Development Project Officer Sandeep Patil, Assistant Project Officer Vijaya Pandhure, President of Bhimashankar Cooperative Sugar Factory Balasaheb Bende, and President of Manchar Agricultural Produce Market Committee Prakash Gholap.

Minister Valse Patil highlighted that the Indian Constitution guarantees equal rights to all citizens, including tribal communities, and stressed the need to protect these rights and treat tribal citizens with dignity. He noted that the government is committed to advancing tribal society through various initiatives, including free education, accommodation, food, and scholarships. These resources should be utilized to ensure that tribal students receive an education, which can significantly transform their lives.

He also mentioned that several public welfare schemes are being implemented to improve living standards, including the construction of modern Ashram School buildings and separate hostels for boys and girls. Discussions are underway with the state tribal development minister to establish a hostel with a capacity of 7,000 students to facilitate further education in Pune.

Minister Valse Patil acknowledged the significant contributions of tribal society to India’s freedom struggle, noting their peaceful protests and efforts to resolve issues through dialogue. He praised tribal communities for preserving traditional practices such as community marriages, collective decision-making, and sustainable agricultural practices. He encouraged other communities to learn from these practices while developing tribal areas, keeping in mind forest laws, ecologically sensitive zones, and environmental protection.

Project Officer Sandeep Patil highlighted various welfare schemes being implemented for the benefit of tribal society, including Central Schemes, Nucleus Budget Scheme, Thakkarbappa Adivasi Vastisudhar Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Yojana, Shabri Gharkul Yojana, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Swayam Yojana. Additionally, infrastructure improvements such as roads, electricity, and water supply are being addressed.

Minister Valse Patil also felicitated meritorious students from ashram schools, subsidized ashram schools, government hostels, and other educational institutions who excelled in competitive exams. He visited stalls set up by tribal self-help groups and learned about their products.
