IndiGo Flight Cancellations Drop Below 100 at RGIA, Passengers Still Face Disruptions
Hyderabad, Dec 2025 : Flight operations at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) continued to face disruptions for the eighth consecutive day, with IndiGo cancelling 58 flights on Tuesday. The cancellations included 14 arrivals and 44 departures on major routes such as Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Cochin, Visakhapatnam, Varanasi, Patna, Srinagar, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Chennai, and Jodhpur.
Tuesday marked the first day since December 4 that daily cancellations fell below 100, a significant decline from the 112 flights cancelled on Monday. Despite the decrease, passengers continued to experience inconveniences, with more than 600 IndiGo flights already cancelled at Hyderabad airport since December 2. At Visakhapatnam airport, six flights were cancelled on Tuesday.
Authorities have made alternative arrangements to help stranded passengers. SpiceJet is operating additional flights to manage the surge, while South Central Railway (SCR) and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) have rolled out special services. SCR is running extra trains to destinations including Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, and Howrah, and TSRTC is providing special bus services to Chennai, Bengaluru, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Kakinada, and Visakhapatnam.
IndiGo, in a statement on Monday, confirmed that it operated over 1,800 flights, up from 1,650 on Sunday, restoring full network coverage. The airline also reported a significant improvement in on-time performance (OTP), reaching 90% on Monday, compared with 75% earlier.
The airline has already processed refunds worth Rs 827 crore for affected passengers, with the remaining claims under process for cancellations up to December 15. IndiGo stated that it has provided assistance to stranded passengers, arranging over 9,500 hotel rooms and nearly 10,000 cabs and buses between December 1 and 7.
In addition, the airline has successfully delivered over 4,500 delayed baggage items to customers, with the remaining deliveries expected to be completed within the next 36 hours.
While the number of cancellations is steadily decreasing, authorities and airlines continue to coordinate closely to minimise passenger inconvenience and ensure smoother travel operations in the coming days.
