Special on Two Years of State Government: Chhattisgarh Emerges as India’s Growth Engine

Raipur, December 2025 : Aligned with the vision of a developed India and a developed Chhattisgarh, the state has not only seen rapid infrastructure development but is also achieving the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals. Over the past two years, Chhattisgarh has emerged as a key growth engine of India. The state’s new industrial policy prioritizes sectors such as defence, IT, AI, and green energy, offering special packages to attract investment. Proposals worth ₹7.69 lakh crore have already been received. A new environment of development, trust, and security is being established in the state. Historically, Maoist terrorism has been a barrier to progress, but it is now being effectively eliminated. Maoism is now in its last stages.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, Chhattisgarh is rapidly advancing toward good governance, transparency, and accountability. To strengthen administrative efficiency and result-oriented governance, the state has established the Department of Good Governance & Convergence. A biometric attendance system for officials was implemented from December 1, 2025, at the Mahandi Bhavan Secretariat, further improving work culture and accountability.

A proud moment in the democratic history of the state was marked by the inauguration of Chhattisgarh’s new grand Legislative Assembly building in Naya Raipur, Atal Nagar, by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This building symbolizes new energy, fresh thinking, and the state’s resolve for a developed Chhattisgarh.

In the last two years, multiple projects have been launched in the Bastar and Surguja regions to overcome underdevelopment, including improvements in roads, rail, health, and communications. The new industrial policy recognizes tourism as an industry, and efforts are underway to enhance tourism facilities in Bastar. Special provisions for homestays and eco-tourism have been introduced, along with incentives, exemptions, and subsidized land for industries in Bastar and Surguja.

Under the Niyad Nella Nar scheme, 69 security camps have been established in Maoist-affected areas to provide basic amenities and ensure the benefits of central and state welfare schemes reach citizens. Events like the Bastar Olympic and Bastar Pandum have showcased the changing landscape of Bastar. Youth in Bastar are increasingly engaging with development programs, evident in skill development initiatives in tourism, automobiles, aviation, IT, and other sectors, connecting them to employment opportunities.

To achieve Sustainable Development Goals, programs promoting social and economic mobility are being effectively implemented. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, clean drinking water has been provided to 40 lakh households. Over 26 lakh families have been approved for PM Awas. To empower women economically, the Mahtari Vandan scheme has credited ₹1,000 each into the accounts of over 70 lakh women, with nearly ₹14,000 crore disbursed so far. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, 98% of the state’s population has been covered.

Rice production and MSP-based procurement remain the backbone of Chhattisgarh’s rural economy. Farmers are receiving the highest procurement prices in the country under the Modi Guarantee, with over 2,300 rice procurement centers successfully operating. Farmers receive 21 quintals per acre and ₹3,100 per quintal. These pro-farmer policies have transferred over ₹1 lakh crore directly into farmers’ accounts, boosting agricultural investment and stimulating local markets. Tractor sales have also reached record levels, reflecting a positive impact on the urban economy.
