Honorable Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Uttarayani Kautik Fair organized by Kumaon Cultural Uthan Manch, Khatima at the Beej Nigam campus by lighting the lamp.
Addressing on this occasion, the Chief Minister announced that a Parvatiya Vikas Bhavan will be constructed, and for this purpose, he instructed the District Magistrate to identify the land. He said that financial assistance will be provided for this Uttarayani Fair while keeping it in the calendar, and on the request of the committee, he also announced the construction of a stage.
The Chief Minister said that Makar Sankranti is a festival whose significance is both spiritual and scientific. He said that we all celebrate Makar Sankranti on the occasion of the sun’s Uttarayan. In our culture, Surya Dev is called the king of planets; therefore, this sacred festival of Makar Sankranti is also considered a day when a king goes to his subjects’ homes. He said that the festival of Uttarayani is not just a festival but a celebration of our culture, our faith, and our life philosophy. He said that at this time, Surya Narayan brings messages of new energy, new hope, and new beginnings into our lives. He expressed happiness that through events like Uttarayani Kautik, our new generation is connecting with its roots. He said that when children dance to traditional instruments, youth sing folk songs, and our mothers and sisters participate in traditional attire, it strengthens the belief that our cultural heritage is in safe hands.
The Chief Minister said that in today’s changing times, when modernity is increasing all around, it has become extremely necessary to preserve and maintain our identity. At such times, such events become extremely important. He said that under the successful leadership and visionary guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India today is not only reaching new heights of development but also reestablishing the glory of Sanatan culture worldwide. Inspired by the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas, our state government is working day and night to make Devbhoomi Uttarakhand an ideal model of development. He said that Khatima, for him, is not just a constituency but his home, and all of you are his family. From here, he began his journey of public service, and every street, every village, every face here resides in his heart.
The Chief Minister said that the government has taken many important steps to strengthen health, education, drinking water, and infrastructure in Khatima. He said that while constructing a high-tech bus stand, modern ITI, Polytechnic College, and a new 100-bed hospital in Khatima, the government has also promoted industrial development and established a national-level modern sports stadium to nurture youth sports talent. He said that to improve connectivity in the region, the government has constructed the Gadarpur and Khatima Bypass, built a bridge in Nausar, and developed a comprehensive road network across the region. He added that recently the government announced the construction of a grand military memorial between Khatima and Tanakpur, which will commence soon. Additionally, M.Com and M.Sc classes have started at the government college in Khatima, and an Eklavya School is running in tribal-dominated areas.
The Chief Minister said that he confidently declares that the pace of Khatima’s development will never stop. He said that in a single year, the unemployment rate decreased by a record 4.4%, which is better than the national average. However, the opposition does not see this truth, as they only know politics of spreading rumors and confusion. He said that Devbhoomi’s culture will not be compromised, nor will there be any compromise on demography or law and order. Therefore, the government has taken strict action against Land Jihad, Love Jihad, and Spit Jihad. He said that anti-riot and anti-conversion laws were implemented and enforced on the ground. While taking action against Land Jihad, the government freed over 10,000 acres of government land from land mafias, sealed over 250 illegal madrasas, and demolished more than 500 illegal structures, proving that no illegal construction will be tolerated on Devbhoomi’s land. Additionally, through Operation Kalnemi, action was taken against fraudsters and hypocrites defaming Sanatan Dharma.
The Chief Minister said that while implementing the Uniform Civil Code to lay the foundation of a harmonious society, strict anti-cheating laws were also enacted to curb the cheating mafia. As a result, nearly 27,000 youth have been employed in government jobs based on merit. He said that adopting a zero-tolerance policy on corruption, over 200 corrupt individuals were jailed in the past four and a half years. Due to these historic and firm decisions, the Uttarakhand economy has grown 26 times since state formation. The state budget has crossed Rs. 1 lakh crore, power production has increased fourfold, road length doubled, and 10 government and private medical colleges are operational. He said that by installing over 42,000 solar rooftop plants, the 2027 target was achieved in 2025. He added that previously, fund allocations faced leakages, and beneficiaries had to visit offices repeatedly, but now DBT ensures 100% transfer of funds directly to accounts. For example, under the Nanda Gaura Scheme, over 40,000 daughters received over Rs. 172 crore directly in their accounts.
Addressing women, the Chief Minister said that you are the true carriers of Uttarakhand’s culture. Your values, hard work, and sacrifices are the greatest strength of our society. Therefore, women empowerment is not just a slogan but a firm commitment. He said that those who only made promises for decades are now alarmed by the government’s achievements, but he wants to clearly state that in Devbhoomi, development will happen, culture will be preserved, and anti-national elements will be expelled. The goal is to make Uttarakhand the best state in India, and this is a non-negotiable resolution. He expressed full confidence that people will continue to support the government in achieving this goal.
