PM-KUSUM Solar Plants Boost Rural Energy in Rajasthan: Chief Secretary
Jaipur, January 2026: Chief Secretary V. Srinivas said that solar power plants installed under the PM-KUSUM scheme have injected new energy into Rajasthan’s rural economy. These plants are contributing significantly to making Rajasthan a surplus energy-producing state, realizing the vision of CM Bhajanlal Sharma.
During his visit to Bhupseda village in the Bansur sub-division of Kotputli-Behror district, he noted that farmers are becoming “energy providers”, using solar energy for uninterrupted daytime electricity supply. The scheme, implemented in partnership with the state government, strengthens rural development, allowing farmers to install solar plants themselves or lease unused land for economic benefit.
Chief Secretary Srinivas highlighted the success of progressive farmer Balveer Singh Mogar at Bhupseda, whose adoption of solar energy inspired many local farmers. Rajasthan ranks first in KUSUM Component-A and second in Component-C nationally.
Aarti Dogra, Chairperson of Rajasthan Discoms, stated that around 1,274 projects with 2,800 MW capacity have been installed, benefiting over 175,000 farmers with daytime electricity supply. This has spurred local employment, small businesses, and affordable power distribution.
Residents reported that solar power has ended nighttime electricity dependence, improved irrigation, and enhanced livelihoods for small businesses such as oil mills and flour mills. Farmers now receive immediate agricultural connections without waiting.
A total of 21 plants with nearly 49 MW capacity in the district produce approximately 6.1 million units per month, benefiting thousands of farmers. District Collector Priyanka Goswami and SP Devendra Bishnoi were also present.
