Maharashtra’s Cultural Grandeur to Shine on Kartavya Path with Grand ‘Self-Reliant Ganeshotsav’ Tableau

New Delhi, Jan 2026 : The national capital, New Delhi, is all set for the 77th Republic Day celebrations. This year’s ceremony will be historic as it marks 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram.” During the grand parade, Maharashtra’s tableau, themed “Ganeshotsav: A Symbol of Self-Reliance,” will showcase the state’s rich traditions and economic strength to the world.

Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh shared official details of the preparations for the ceremony. This year, President of the European Council Antonio Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will attend as chief guests. In their presence, Kartavya Path will witness a magnificent display of India’s military might along with its cultural richness.

Among the 30 tableaux participating in the parade, Maharashtra’s tableau is expected to be a major attraction. It will powerfully depict how the social movement initiated by Lokmanya Tilak through public Ganeshotsav has evolved into a force that contributes to building a self-reliant modern India. The tableau will highlight the massive economic activity generated through Ganeshotsav, employment opportunities for idol-makers and decoration artists, and the extensive economic chain woven through the festival. Maharashtra’s iconic Dhol-Tasha troupes and the spirit of social unity will convey the message of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”

As part of the military display, the Battle Array formation will be showcased for the first time this year. Spectators will witness impressive demonstrations of the Arjun tank, T-90 Bhishma, Rafale fighter jets, and advanced indigenously manufactured weapon systems. The parade will feature 18 military contingents, 13 bands, and a total of 30 tableaux. Cultural performances by 2,500 artists will be accompanied by music composed by Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani, with narration by veteran actor Anupam Kher.

This year’s celebrations emphasize public participation, with 10,000 special guests invited, including ISRO scientists, Lakhpati Didis, and progressive farmers.

For public convenience, a special “Rashtraparv” portal and mobile app have been developed, and Delhi Metro travel will be free for ticket holders. Following the parade, the “Bharat Parv” festival will be held at the Red Fort from January 26 to 31, where citizens will once again get an opportunity to experience Maharashtra’s vibrant culture.
