Pune, Jan 2026 : Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated that the ‘Bajaj Pune Grand Tour’ international cycling competition has led to the construction of smooth, high-quality roads in Pune district, which has also helped reduce traffic congestion.
The prize distribution for the winners of the third stage of the ‘Bajaj Pune Grand Tour’ was held at the Vidya Pratishthan Arts, Science, and Commerce College campus on Bhigwan Road, Baramati. The awards were presented by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharane, and Rajya Sabha MP Sunetra Pawar, marking the conclusion of this stage of the international cycling event.

The ceremony was attended by Special Police Commissioner Sunil Phulari, District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Police Superintendent Sandeep Singh Gill, Mayor Sachin Satav, and various other dignitaries.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawar said, “‘Bajaj Pune Grand Tour’ has introduced Pune district to citizens from across India and abroad. The event highlights the skills of renowned cyclists, the route of the competition, infrastructure, and the area’s potential for tourism. This competition has been organized to inspire budding athletes, enhance their sportsmanship, and encourage a competitive spirit.”
He further noted that the event was inaugurated in Pune by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Expressing satisfaction over the enthusiastic response from citizens across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the district, Pawar said that the administration meticulously planned the event while keeping citizens informed, and the public cooperated fully by following official guidelines.
Along the competition route in rural areas, citizens, women, farmers, and students stood respectfully to watch the cyclists in action, creating a lively and sporty atmosphere. He also mentioned that citizens have expressed a desire for such high-quality international events to be held annually.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that the competition was planned excellently, and cyclists themselves acknowledged that the route met international standards. He added that the encouragement from citizens standing along both sides of the road gave the athletes special energy.
Pawar also congratulated all involved, noting that the central government, state government, and Pune district administration worked in coordination, and prominent companies like Bajaj, Serum Institute, Panchsheel Group, health organizations, various sports associations, and citizens actively participated and took ownership of the event.
