New Delhi | October 2026: The Aam Aadmi Party has geared up to make the massive protest scheduled for October 10 at Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, a success. Delhi AAP president Saurabh Bharadwaj held a marathon meeting on Monday with all Delhi MLAs, councillors, district presidents, assembly presidents and ward observers. During the meeting, backup leadership was prepared to ensure that even if the BJP government’s police arrest the first-line leaders, the protest can continue to be led by the second- and third-line leadership.
Saurabh Bharadwaj said that, according to sources, leaders of organisations supporting “Jantar Mantar 2.0” would soon be arrested in false cases. Despite these arrests, the peaceful protest should continue. For this, leaders and organisations should prepare backup leadership. There should also be a Plan B for communication. This movement is much bigger than any individual, organisation or political party.
Saurabh Bharadwaj further said that the government is already nervous about the major protest being held at Jantar Mantar on October 10, where people from every corner of the country will come to raise their voice against the Election Commission. He said that the government is worried about what will happen on October 10 and has made some plans for it.
He said that the party was repeatedly receiving messages that police were soon going to take serious action against people from different organisations associated with the entire movement and that they would be arrested in different false cases. However, he said, the movement is bigger than those leaders. It is bigger than any political party or organisation. According to him, it is a movement of 1.4 billion people of the country, and therefore, regardless of whose arrest takes place, the movement should not stop.
Saurabh Bharadwaj asked all leaders and organisations to prepare their backup plans. He said that, assuming all first-line leaders are arrested on October 6 for several months, there should be clarity about who would constitute the second line of leadership. If the second-line leaders are also arrested, who would form the third line? He said the issue was not limited to the arrest of top leaders, as leaders at the middle and lower levels could also be arrested.
He said that a day before the October 10 demonstration, on October 9, district- and assembly-level leaders of all organisations could possibly be taken into custody. In such a situation, preparations should be made regarding how communication would take place, how messages would reach people and who would carry messages to those involved in the movement.
Saurabh Bharadwaj further said that the second and most important point was that when a leader is present at a protest, he or she communicates with the police and administration and helps keep the demonstration peaceful. In the absence of a leader, maintaining a peaceful protest becomes difficult, and, he alleged, the government was preparing to create such a situation.
Despite this, he said, efforts should be made to ensure that the demonstration remains completely democratic, constitutional, legal and peaceful. Therefore, after one level of leadership, another level of leadership should be available to take charge of the entire protest and ensure that it remains peaceful.
Saurabh Bharadwaj also said that everyone’s WhatsApp and Instagram accounts could be blocked. In such a situation, everyone would have to consider what alternative means of communication should be used, including whether Signal or Telegram could be used instead of WhatsApp.
He said this was the time to keep a backup plan ready for everything and urged everyone to prepare Plan B and Plan C. He described the protest as the biggest movement and said that, through this movement, the country, its politics, democracy and Constitution could be protected. He called upon everyone to be prepared.
