More than 1 crore people participate in three-day programme; Anganwadi workers honoured on an unprecedented scale
Jaipur, Sept 2026 : The Directorate of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Rajasthan, organised the three-day ‘Angan Milan Seva’ programme from September 25 to 27 at all Anganwadi centres across the state as part of the Viksit Bharat Jan Seva Abhiyan, being conducted from September 17 to October 17, 2026.
The programme was organised at around 63,000 Anganwadi centres across Rajasthan and witnessed the participation of more than 1 crore people, according to estimates. It was the first time that Anganwadi workers were honoured on such a large scale.
As part of the programme, Anganwadi workers and helpers were felicitated, presented with a letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, honoured with garlands and gifted saplings.
A key feature of the event was the enthusiastic participation of local residents from both urban and rural areas, along with elected representatives, who encouraged and appreciated the work of Anganwadi personnel.
Special activities were also organised for beneficiaries visiting the Anganwadi centres. Traditional ceremonies, including god bharai for pregnant women and annaprashan for infants of lactating mothers, were conducted during the programme.
The celebrations featured folk songs, traditional music and folk dances, with women participating enthusiastically at the Anganwadi centres. Nutrition-related activities and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) initiatives were also organised.
The programme provided Anganwadi workers with an opportunity to feel that their contribution to building the country's next generation was being recognised and appreciated by society on a large scale.
On the occasion, Anganwadi workers and helpers expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. Women benefiting from schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and the Chief Minister's Matritva Poshan Yojana also expressed their appreciation for the services being provided through Anganwadi centres.
Across the state, elected representatives and philanthropists also announced financial assistance for strengthening Anganwadi centres in their respective areas.
Women and Child Development Department Secretary Poonam said the three-day programme, held from September 25 to 27, concluded successfully on Sunday. She said the significant role played by Anganwadi workers and helpers deserved recognition and that the ‘Angan Milan Seva’ programme had been organised with this objective.
ICDS Director Vasudev Malawat said the broader objective of the campaign was to take public service initiatives, social welfare programmes and nutrition and health schemes to people across the state. He said the event witnessed extensive public participation, with elected representatives also taking part in large numbers.
Malawat expressed gratitude to citizens, elected representatives, heads of institutions, teachers, doctors, Rajeevika members, Poshan Sakhis, School Management Committees (SMCs) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for visiting Anganwadi centres in their respective areas and contributing to the success of the programme.
