Government that allowed namaz on the steps of Hanumangarhi had no interest in developing ‘Ram’s Ayodhya’: Chief Minister
Lucknow, October 2026 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared his sentiments and enthusiasm with the people of the state over Deepotsav, which was launched in 2017. In a post on his social media account on X, the Chief Minister wrote that Shri Ayodhya Dham, regarded as the foremost among the seven sacred cities, is delighted to welcome its 10th grand and divine Deepotsav.
Every Flame Will Proclaim the Glory of Sanatan Culture
Describing the festival, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote that the enchanting spectacle of the Sarayu riverbanks illuminated by lakhs of earthen lamps, captivating tableaux bringing episodes from the Ramayana to life, grand processions and cultural performances would revive memories of the Treta Yuga.
Every lamp, he said, would symbolise profound devotion to Lord Shri Ram, while every flame would proclaim the glory of Sanatan culture.
Ayodhya Suffered Neglect, Disorder and Disrepair Before 2017
The Chief Minister criticised previous governments, stating that before 2017, Ayodhya, the beloved city of Lord Shri Ram, had suffered from neglect, disorder and a lack of development.
He questioned what interest a government that had ordered firing on innocent Ram devotees and allegedly allowed namaz to be offered on the steps of the sacred Hanumangarhi temple could have had in developing “Ram’s Ayodhya”.
Ayodhya Has Become a Remarkable Confluence of Faith and Modernity
The Chief Minister said that, by the grace of Lord Shri Ram, Ayodhya witnessed a new dawn of development and cultural renaissance after 2017.
Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and through the efforts of the double-engine government, the holy city is regaining its ancient glory, he said.
The grand and divine Shri Ram Temple, Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, the well-developed Ram Path, newly developed ghats, modern facilities and Ayodhya’s transformation into a solar city have made it a remarkable confluence of faith and modernity, the Chief Minister added.
Deepotsav Reflects the Renewed Glory of Lord Ram’s City
Yogi Adityanath said the most enchanting expression of Ayodhya’s renewed glory could be seen during Deepotsav.
The festival, which began in 2017 with the lighting of 1.71 lakh earthen lamps, has since become a symbol of the devotion and enthusiasm of crores of Lord Ram’s devotees across India and around the world.
As in previous years, devotees are preparing to set a world record in lamp-lighting this year as well, he said.
According to the Chief Minister, Deepotsav represents the fulfilment of the dreams of generations who had cherished the desire for centuries to see Ayodhya, the city of their beloved Lord Ram, restored to its splendour associated with the Treta Yuga.
Today, every lamp is being lit as a symbol of the victory of faith over the darkness of appeasement, the resurgence of cultural pride and the resolve to build a developed India, he said.
Jai Jai Shri Ram!
