Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the land of Bhind is one of the finest and most meaningful examples of the spirit of ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’. Once known for its dacoit problem, the region is now emerging as a hub of industry, employment and agriculture. He said the Balaram Krishi Mahotsav is a festival dedicated to serving the annadata farmers and expressing gratitude to them. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav addressed the Balaram Krishi Mahotsav held in Bhind virtually from the Chief Minister’s residence.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said, addressing the farmers participating in the programme, that the agriculture sector is poised to become a strong pillar of the state’s economy and the biggest guarantee of prosperity for all in the coming years. He urged farmers to make a fresh beginning in areas of their interest, whether dairy farming, Shri Anna (millet) production, fisheries or horticulture.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said, “Our government has always stood with farmers, from the field to the factory.” The Chief Minister appealed to all farmers to participate enthusiastically in the Balaram Krishi Mahotsav. He said Mother Earth is our greatest wealth. Farmers should not sell their precious land but should teach their children to invest their hard work and dedication in this wealth.
Bhind Emerging as Hub for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said Bhind is making rapid progress in agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries. Irrigated by the waters of rivers such as the Chambal, Sindh and Pahuj, Bhind produces large quantities of millet, wheat and mustard. The district has carved out a distinct identity in mustard production, with Morena and Bhind together accounting for more than 50 per cent of the state’s mustard production.He expressed satisfaction over the growing interest among farmers in Bhind in natural farming. More than 3,000 farmers are practising natural farming across 1,250 hectares in the district.
Milk collection has increased by 31 per cent, while cow protection and care is being undertaken at around 60 gaushalas. Preparations are now underway at Pandari village to establish a self-reliant gaushala with capacity to shelter 5,000 destitute cattle.
Progressive farmers in the district have also adopted new fisheries technologies. Modern fish-farming technology has been installed in Bhavthara village at a cost of ₹25 lakh, resulting in the production of 8 metric tonnes of fish.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the government and farmers would together create a new chapter of history. Farmers in the district have already taken the first step towards this by showing keen interest in animal husbandry and fisheries. The government will always stand by them, he added.
Irrigation Projects Transforming Agriculture in Bhind
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said irrigation projects are transforming agriculture in Bhind. He said the district is set to benefit from the historic Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal River Linking Project, which will bring a major transformation to the region’s agricultural landscape. The work on the Simar Stop Dam is nearing completion and will provide irrigation facilities to 210 hectares of land. He said the Kanera Lift Irrigation Project in Ater will be completed by June 2027, benefiting more than 15,000 hectares of land across 96 villages. At present, 1,62,381 hectares of land in the district are already being irrigated through the Rajghat, Chambal and Harsi canal systems.
Balaram Krishi Mahotsav Being Celebrated Across State with Enthusiasm
New and Renewable Energy Minister Shri Rakesh Shukla said that, on the initiative of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, the Balaram Krishi Mahotsav is being celebrated across the state in a festive atmosphere, with farmers participating enthusiastically. He expressed hope that, with the blessings of Lord Balaram, the programmes being organised during the Krishak Kalyan Varsh would yield positive results.
Progressive Farmers and Meritorious Students Honoured
During the programme, Minister Shri Shukla and Bhind MLA Shri Narendra Singh Kushwah, in the presence of other dignitaries, felicitated progressive farmers for their achievements. Shri Ramsanehi Sharma of Dabohamod was honoured for his fruit orchard nursery; Shri Parvat Singh of Badera for nursery development; Shri Jagdish Singh Kansana of Tudila for natural farming; Shri Ranjit Singh of Mangarh and Shri Gangaram Baghel of Baruanpura for organic farming; Shri Ajay Singh of Sonelal Ka Pura for vermicompost production; Shri Laxman Singh Narwaria of Udannkheda for organic farming; Shri Sandeep Singh of Saipura for advanced technology-based tomato and chilli production; Shri Kuldeep Singh Bhadauria of Kyareepura for organic farming; and Shri Gurupasann Rajawat of Badagaon No. 1 for indigenous seed conservation. The farmers were felicitated with shawls and certificates of appreciation.
Meritorious students of the district—Nirali Baghel, Kritika Dubey, Princy, Sakshi Sharma, Chhavi Parmar, Sonam Devi, Sahil Yadav and Abhay Sharma—were also felicitated for their outstanding performance in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations.
Information Stalls and Exhibitions Set Up for Farmers
Special stalls for farmer registration, e-KYC and Farmer ID registration were set up at the venue to facilitate farmers. Exhibitions were organised by the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department, Farmers’ Welfare Department, Agricultural Engineering Department, Horticulture and Food Processing Department, Fisheries Department, and the District Cooperative Central Bank Maryadit, Bhind. The exhibitions provided information about departmental achievements and various government schemes. Products prepared by self-help groups were also displayed and made available for sale. Students presented colourful cultural programmes during the event.
Administrator of Apex Bank Bhopal Shri Mahendra Yadav, Janpad President Smt. Saroj Baghel, Shri Kapil Yarde, Shri Devendra Narwaria and a large number of progressive farmers from the district were present at the main venue of the Balaram Krishi Mahotsav. Notably, some progressive farmers in Bhind district have taken up Taiwanese guava and turmeric cultivation along with natural and organic farming. The results have been encouraging.
