Thousands Participate in Mankapur Event; Chief Minister Also Makes Three Shivlings
Nagpur, August 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the Parthiv Shivling Making Ceremony organised by the Lotus Cultural and Sporting Association at the Shiv Temple premises in Mankapur, Nagpur. The Chief Minister also participated in the religious activity and personally made three Shivlings.
Amid chants of sacred mantras, Chief Minister Fadnavis first offered prayers and sought blessings at the ceremony. The event was attended by organisers Dayashankar Tiwari, Anil Bawangaude, Amol Kolhe, Ashish Pali, Naveen Jain, Prabhakar Thackeray and other members of the organising committee.
Highlighting the significance of worshipping Lord Shiva in Indian culture, Fadnavis said the ceremony, being held during the holy month of Shravan, had created a spiritually charged atmosphere in the area. He appreciated the participation of men and women, as well as children and persons with disabilities, in making the Parthiv Shivlings.
The Chief Minister said that worship of Lord Shiva holds an important place in Indian culture and that Shiva is regarded as a symbol of the eternal and infinite. He said participation in Shiva worship provides devotees with spiritual peace and mental stability.
Fadnavis noted that the organisers have taken a pledge to make 91 lakh Parthiv Shivlings during this year's ceremony. He appealed to people to participate in the month-long religious event and become part of the initiative.
The ceremony is being held from August 13 to September 12, marking its third consecutive year. This year, the organisers have set a target of creating 91 lakh Parthiv Shivlings.
According to event organiser Dayashankar Tiwari, soil for making the Shivlings has been brought from the banks of the Ganga. The Parthiv Shivlings are immersed in water every day after sunset as part of the religious rituals.
The month-long ceremony will conclude on September 12 with a traditional yajna and Mahaprasad. Chief Minister Fadnavis also extended his greetings and best wishes to the devotees participating in the event.
