Discussions on a Clear Roadmap at Vibrant Summit-2027 for Global Opportunities for Gujarat’s MSMEs and Small Artisans
Gandhinagar, August 2026: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel arrived in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday after successfully completing his visit to San Francisco as part of his week-long U.S.-Canada visit along with the Gujarat delegation. As part of the Chief Minister’s one-to-one meetings in Washington, D.C., he held a meeting with Walmart Executive Vice President and Global Public Policy and Government Affairs, Shri Dan Bryant.
In the context of Gujarat having a large number of MSME industries, during the meeting with Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and Shri Bryant discussed sensitising the state’s vast MSME pool and increasing export opportunities through quality improvement.
Shri Bryant apprised the Chief Minister that under Walmart’s Vriddhi programm, more than 1.15 lakh MSMEs have been trained since 2019, and the company has set a target of providing training to 1.70 lakh MSMEs by 2028.
Chief Minister also discussed organising workshops jointly with Walmart and the concerned departments of the State Government to identify the sectoral potential of MSMEs.
Discussions were held on how the State Government and Walmart could collaborate over the next 3 to 4 months to explore potential global opportunities for MSMEs and small artisans. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Shri Bryant and the delegation also held fruitful discussion on announcing a clear roadmap in this regard at the upcoming Vibrant Summit-2027.
Chief Secretary Shri M.K. Das, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Shri T. Natarajan, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Department, Smt. Mamta Verma, and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Shri Sanjeev Kumar, were also present at the one-to-one meeting.
