All construction-related activities should be undertaken simultaneously to ensure timely completion: Chief Secretary
Airport to have an annual passenger-handling capacity of 20 lakh, 14 check-in counters and modern facilities.
Construction work is proposed to be completed by October 4, 2027.
Jaipur, November 2026 : Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas on Thursday reviewed the progress of construction work on the Kota-Bundi New Greenfield Airport at the Government Secretariat in Jaipur.
Expressing satisfaction over the progress of the project, the Chief Secretary directed the concerned officials to complete the construction within the stipulated timeline through effective coordination among all departments.
He emphasised that all activities related to airport construction should be undertaken simultaneously so that the runway, terminal building, Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower and other infrastructure facilities can be developed concurrently.
During the meeting, officials informed that the construction of the Kota-Bundi Greenfield Airport is proposed to be completed by October 4, 2027.
The airport is being developed in accordance with modern aviation standards and will be equipped with advanced passenger facilities. A passenger terminal building spread over 20,000 square metres will be constructed, with an annual passenger-handling capacity of 20 lakh.
For passenger convenience, the airport will have 14 check-in counters and nine self-check-in kiosks. An automated baggage-handling system and baggage-claim carousels will also be installed.
To ensure modern air traffic management, a G+3-storey technical block will be constructed to house the Air Traffic Control (ATC) facilities. A dedicated fire station will also be developed to strengthen emergency response and firefighting services at the airport.
As part of efforts to promote renewable energy, a ground-mounted solar power plant with an installed capacity of 1 MW peak will be established at the airport. The solar installation is expected to meet approximately 25 per cent of the airport's annual energy consumption.
Environmental sustainability has also been incorporated into the airport's infrastructure planning. A Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR)-based Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), with a capacity of 250 kilolitres per day (KLD), will be installed. The facility will operate on a zero-discharge system to ensure effective wastewater management.
For smooth movement of passengers and vehicles, a six-lane approach road will be developed. The airport will also provide parking facilities for 300 cars and 70 taxis, along with dedicated electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
The Kota-Bundi Greenfield Airport is being developed with a focus on world-class infrastructure, modern passenger amenities, enhanced aircraft operations, energy efficiency, environmental sustainability and robust safety arrangements.
Senior officials attending the review meeting included Principal Secretary of the Civil Aviation Department Naveen Jain, representatives of the Airports Authority of India, officials from the Energy Department and senior representatives of other concerned departments.
