Rajasthan Receives National Award for Outstanding Performance in Renewable Energy Sector

Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan presents the award at the concluding session of Expo-2026

Jaipur, November 2026 : Rajasthan, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, has once again demonstrated its leading position in India's green energy landscape. The state has been honoured with a national award for its outstanding performance under the Renewable Energy State Assessment Framework (RE-SAF), developed by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

The prestigious award was presented to Rajasthan by Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan during the concluding session of Expo-2026. Representing the state, Minister of State for Energy Hiralal Nagar and Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Chairman and Managing Director Rohit Gupta received the award from the Vice-President.

Speaking on the occasion, Energy Minister of State Hiralal Nagar said that under the able leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan has emerged as the country's largest green energy hub.

He highlighted that the state has so far established 51.6 GW of renewable energy capacity, including 45 GW of solar energy capacity. Rajasthan ranks first in the country in renewable energy generation, installed solar energy capacity and implementation of the PM-KUSUM scheme.

He further stated that Rajasthan is playing a significant role in achieving the national target of establishing 500 GW of installed electricity capacity based on non-fossil fuel sources by 2030.

The minister said that Rajasthan has consistently been achieving significant milestones in the renewable energy sector. In this context, the state has secured an outstanding position among the best-performing states and Union Territories under the Renewable Energy State Assessment Framework (RE-SAF), developed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in collaboration with the Power Finance Corporation.

It is noteworthy that the assessment of states was conducted on the basis of several important parameters, including renewable energy development, policy and regulatory frameworks, grid preparedness, performance of distribution companies (DISCOMs), and an investment-friendly environment.

The assessment framework aims to encourage healthy competition among states while promoting best practices and excellence in the renewable energy sector.

Congratulating Rajasthan on this achievement, Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Secretary Santosh Sarangi wrote to Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, appreciating the efforts made by the state government to strengthen the renewable energy sector.
