CM Dhami Participates in Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra and Seva Sankalp Sabha in Uttarkashi

Uttarkashi, October 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday participated in the Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra and Seva Sankalp Sabha organised in Uttarkashi as part of the Seva Sankalp campaign, marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 25 years in public service.

The programme also saw participants pledge Uttarakhand’s active contribution towards building a developed India. Dhami said the state government was committed to making Uttarakhand one of the leading states in the country in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision.

Before attending the programme, Dhami offered prayers at the historic Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Shakti Temple in Uttarkashi and prayed for the prosperity and well-being of the state.

He later participated in the Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra and Seva Sankalp Sabha at the historic Ramlila Maidan. The Chief Minister and participants also watched a live broadcast of the programme organised to mark Modi’s 25 years of public service.

Dhami said that over the past 25 years, Modi had made public service, good governance and the welfare of the poor the foundation of his public life. He described the Seva Jyoti Yatra as a symbol of the commitment to public service, national interest and public welfare.

The Chief Minister highlighted schemes including the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, saying their benefits had reached people at the grassroots. He said governance had been taken beyond government offices and files and brought closer to citizens.

Referring to Modi’s vision for Uttarakhand, Dhami said the Prime Minister had described the third decade of the 21st century as Uttarakhand’s decade from the land of Baba Kedarnath. The state government, he said, was working to realise this vision by expanding road, rail and air connectivity and creating new opportunities in industry, tourism, employment and self-employment.

Dhami said Uttarakhand’s economy had grown by more than one-and-a-half times over the past four years, while per capita income had increased by more than 41 per cent. More than 20,000 new industries have been established in the state, while the number of hotels has increased by around 25 per cent and homestays by more than 50 per cent.

He said more than three lakh women in Uttarakhand had become “Lakhpati Didis”. The state had also secured the top position nationally in the Sustainable Development Goals Index and had been recognised as the Most Film Friendly State for four consecutive years. Uttarakhand had also achieved the status of a fully literate state.

Dhami said efforts to make the Char Dham Yatra safe, convenient and well organised had resulted in more than 56 lakh pilgrims undertaking the pilgrimage so far this year.

In Uttarkashi district, foundation stones had been laid for 50 projects worth more than Rs 200 crore, of which 26 had been completed and work on 24 was underway.

The Chief Minister also highlighted major legislative measures adopted by Uttarakhand, including becoming the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code. He also referred to the state’s anti-conversion law, anti-riot law, land law and anti-copying law.

He said transparent recruitment and strict implementation of the anti-copying law had resulted in more than 35,000 young people securing government jobs on merit over the past nearly five years.

Dhami said the vision of a developed India must be translated into citizens’ duties and responsibilities and reiterated the government’s commitment to taking Uttarakhand among the country’s leading states.

During the programme, Dhami announced the construction of a Vishwanath-Shakti Temple Corridor in Uttarkashi. He said the sacred temples are major centres of faith and that the corridor would provide better facilities to pilgrims while promoting religious tourism and creating local employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister also said the proposal to upgrade the Primary Health Centre at Dhauntari in the Gajna area would be examined. He said a proposal had been sent to the Central government for establishing a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Bhatwari and efforts would be made for its early approval.

Development and beautification works at Dodital, Avana Bugyal and Hari Maharaj Saud Bugyal would also be taken forward, he said. Dhami further announced that the District Hospital Uttarkashi would be named after former MLA late Gopal Singh Rawat.

District Panchayat President Ramesh Chauhan, Gangotri MLA Suresh Chauhan, Purola MLA Durgeshwar Lal, former MLAs Vijaypal Sajwan and Kedar Singh Rawat, BJP state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan, Garhwal coordinator Kishore Bhatt, District Magistrate Prashant Arya, Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Upadhyay and Chief Development Officer Jai Bharat Singh were among those present.
