Crackdown on Illegal Mineral Transportation, Six Sand- and Stone-Laden Vehicles Seized

Raipur, October 2026: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government is continuing strict monitoring and action against illegal mining, transportation and storage of minerals across the state.

As part of the ongoing enforcement drive, the Mineral Department’s flying squad conducted inspections at several locations in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district on the directions of Collector Vijay Dayaram K. During the operation, the department seized six tractors allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of sand and stone.

According to information provided by the Mineral Department, four tractors loaded with sand were seized in the Basti-Bagra area. The vehicles have been kept at the Kodgar outpost for safekeeping.

Similarly, one tractor carrying stone was seized in the Sarbahra area, while another tractor loaded with sand was seized in the Andi area. Both vehicles have been kept at the Amarpur Police Line for safekeeping.

The Mineral Department has initiated action against the owners of all the seized vehicles under the relevant provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act. The department said the vehicles will be released as per rules after the prescribed penalty or settlement amount is deposited under the mineral head.

Collector Vijay Dayaram K. has directed the Mineral Department to maintain continuous surveillance over illegal mineral activities in the district and ensure strict action in accordance with the law.

He instructed departmental teams to conduct regular inspections in different areas and take prompt action against cases involving illegal extraction, transportation and storage of minerals.

The Collector also directed officials to pay serious attention to complaints received through the Chief Minister’s Helpline. He stressed the need for proper investigation of such complaints and their resolution within the prescribed time frame.

The district administration said enforcement activities would continue to prevent illegal mineral extraction and transportation and to ensure compliance with mining regulations.
