Rs 43,000 assistance for borewell drilling and pump installation under the Seva Sankalp Campaign expands irrigation facilities and creates new opportunities for farmers.
Raipur, October 2026: The Seva Sankalp Campaign 2026 is bringing positive changes to rural households while creating new livelihood opportunities. Manoj Kumar Chedaiya, a farmer from Korwa village in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district of Chhattisgarh, is an example of how government assistance can transform agricultural practices and improve rural livelihoods.
Under the Agriculture Department’s Kisan Samriddhi Yojana (Farmer Prosperity Scheme), Manoj received financial assistance of Rs 43,000 for borewell drilling and the installation of an irrigation pump. The support has helped improve irrigation facilities on his farmland, increased the scope for year-round cultivation and created opportunities to enhance agricultural income.
Scheme Transforms Farming Prospects
Manoj owns approximately four acres of agricultural land. Earlier, the absence of adequate irrigation facilities forced him to depend largely on rainfall for cultivation. Unpredictable rainfall and the lack of timely water supplies often affected crop production.
Cultivating additional crops after the kharif season was particularly challenging. With limited irrigation facilities, Manoj could not make optimal use of his agricultural land, restricting the family’s income from farming.
The Kisan Samriddhi Yojana proved beneficial in addressing these challenges. With the Rs 43,000 grant provided by the Agriculture Department, Manoj arranged for a borewell to be drilled and an irrigation pump to be installed on his farm.
The new facilities have enabled him to supply water to his fields more efficiently and reduced his dependence on rainfall. He can now irrigate crops according to their requirements and manage agricultural activities more effectively, helping improve the prospects of higher productivity.
Vegetable Cultivation Opens New Income Opportunities
Access to regular irrigation has brought significant changes to Manoj’s farming activities. Earlier, water shortages limited his ability to diversify cultivation. With improved irrigation facilities, he can now grow vegetables and other crops alongside paddy.
Timely watering has helped improve crop growth and production, while the opportunity to cultivate additional crops has opened up new avenues for agriculture-based income.
The improved facilities have also enabled Manoj to utilise his four acres of land more effectively than before. Diversification beyond paddy has expanded his farming options and helped strengthen the family’s economic prospects.
Government Assistance Supports Self-Reliance
Manoj said that inadequate irrigation facilities had previously created several difficulties in farming. Water shortages affected crop yields and limited his ability to grow additional crops.
The assistance provided under the Kisan Samriddhi Yojana has helped resolve these problems to a considerable extent. With a borewell and irrigation pump now available, he can provide water to crops on time and manage cultivation with greater confidence.
He said the improvement in farming practices had contributed to higher family income and a better financial situation.
Expressing gratitude to the state government, the district administration and the Agriculture Department, Manoj acknowledged their support through the Kisan Samriddhi Yojana.
His experience highlights how targeted assistance for irrigation infrastructure can help farmers reduce dependence on rainfall, diversify agricultural production and move towards greater economic self-reliance.
