Senior Leader and MP Sharad Pawar Meets Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane
Mumbai, September 2026: Senior leader and MP Sharad Pawar was paid a courtesy visit by Maharashtra Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane at Pawar’s residence, ‘Silver Oak’. The two discussed various issues concerning the fisheries sector in Maharashtra, problems faced by fishermen and measures to accelerate the development of ports across the state.
Minister Nitesh Rane briefed Sharad Pawar on various initiatives being undertaken by the Fisheries Department for the modernisation of Sassoon Dock. He also presented Pawar with an information booklet on the Chief Minister Matsyasampada Scheme and apprised him of several important decisions taken by the Fisheries and Ports Department.
The meeting also saw a positive exchange of views on the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Maharashtra’s fisheries sector, address the problems faced by the fishing community and accelerate port development. Minister Rane said the government is giving priority to modern infrastructure for the development of fisheries and to decisions that safeguard the interests of fishermen.
While outlining various initiatives related to the modernisation of Sassoon Dock, fisheries development and port infrastructure, Rane reiterated the government’s commitment to the comprehensive development of the sector.
The meeting also included discussions on several important issues concerning the future growth of Maharashtra’s fisheries sector and the development of port infrastructure across the state.
