Raid Conducted at Girwale in Panvel Taluka; 136 Cylinders Seized
Mumbai, October 2026: The state-level vigilance squad of the Food and Civil Supplies Department has taken action against the illegal storage of gas cylinders at Girwale in Panvel taluka of Raigad district. During the operation, 136 gas cylinders belonging to various companies, a tempo and a car were seized. The total value of the seized items is estimated at ₹10.02 lakh.
Acting on confidential information received on October 27, 2026, the state-level vigilance squad conducted a raid at Girwale under the guidance of Controller of Rationing Chandrakant Dange and the leadership of Deputy Controller of Rationing Ganesh Bellale. During the raid, officials found that a total of 136 filled and empty gas cylinders had been stored illegally.
The seized cylinders included 14 filled 19-kg cylinders and four filled 15-kg cylinders. The empty cylinders comprised four 19-kg cylinders, 112 15-kg cylinders and two 5-kg cylinders.
In addition to the cylinders, the squad also seized a tempo and a car.
A criminal case has been registered against the accused at Panvel City Police Station in connection with the incident.
The operation was carried out by Assistant Controller of Rationing Pradeep Kale, Chief Inspection Officer Nagnath Hangarge, Panvel Inspection Officer Ashwini Dhanwe, and Rationing Inspectors Ramraje Bhosale, Chandrakant Kamble, Arun Kate, Rajesh Sorte, Devanand Thorve, Ravindra Rathod and Pawan Kumbhale.
