New Delhi/Jaipur, November 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the ‘India Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026’ at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Addressing the summit, he said that more than 50 per cent of India's installed electricity capacity was now based on non-fossil fuel sources. This target, set under the Paris Agreement for 2030, had been achieved five years ahead of schedule, in 2025.
The Prime Minister said that India was advancing global clean energy cooperation in the spirit of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma held a roundtable meeting with more than 50 prominent investors in the presence of Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi. During the meeting, he highlighted the vast potential and investment opportunities available in Rajasthan's renewable energy sector and invited investors to invest in the state.
Representatives of several leading companies, including Brookfield, ReNew, Aditya Birla Renewables, Jindal Group and Avaada, participated in the roundtable meeting. The Chief Minister also inaugurated and inspected Rajasthan's exhibition stalls. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Energy Hiralal Nagar and Chief Secretary V. Srinivas were also present.
Rajasthan ranks first in renewable energy generation and installed solar capacity
The Chief Minister said Rajasthan ranked first in the country in renewable energy generation and installed solar power capacity. The state government's target is to develop approximately 125 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Special emphasis is being placed on solar energy, wind power, hybrid projects and energy storage to achieve this goal.
He said the state government had implemented the Rajasthan Integrated Clean Energy Policy. It had also introduced the ‘Right to Use’ policy to facilitate land availability for mega renewable energy projects. In addition, investors are being provided various incentives and facilities under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme 2024.
Energy capacity being expanded through planned development
Sharma said more than 51,000 MW of renewable energy capacity had already been installed in Rajasthan, including over 45,000 MW of installed solar power capacity.
The state is expanding large solar parks, rooftop solar installations, wind power, biomass and energy storage projects. A roadmap has also been prepared for developing energy storage projects to utilise surplus solar power generation and improve grid management during peak demand periods.
Summit organised on the theme ‘Invest, Innovate, Inspire’
The Expo is showcasing Rajasthan's renewable energy capabilities on national and international platforms. Organised around the theme ‘Invest, Innovate, Inspire’, the international summit features Rajasthan along with 12 other states and Union Territories, presenting their renewable energy potential, investment opportunities and manufacturing capabilities.
Participation from over 130 countries and more than 400 exhibitors
More than 130 countries are participating in the summit, being held from November 2 to 5. Over 400 exhibitors are showcasing advanced technologies and clean energy solutions in solar and wind power, green hydrogen, energy storage and other emerging sectors.
The summit aims to promote global investment, industrial partnerships and technological collaborations in the clean and renewable energy sector.
