Jaipur, November 2026: As part of efforts to promote the economic empowerment of rural women and expand livelihood opportunities under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas met Union Rural Development Secretary Rohit Kansal at Kartavya Bhawan in New Delhi on Monday.

The meeting focused on the proposed organisation of the National Saras Fair in Jaipur in December 2026 and the progress of the VB–G RAM G initiative.

The Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad (Rajeevika) is planning to organise the National Saras Fair 2026–27 in Jaipur from December 25, 2026, to January 11, 2027. Preparations are underway to host the 18-day event at the southern campus of Jawahar Kala Kendra, Shilpgram and the Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Institute premises. Approval for organising the fair has already been received from the Union Ministry of Rural Development.

Around 750 to 800 stalls are proposed at the fair to showcase and sell products made by women belonging to self-help groups from Rajasthan and other states across the country. The event will also feature around 50 food stalls, live demonstrations of handicraft-making, workshops and cultural programmes.

The objective of the fair is to encourage rural women entrepreneurship, provide a platform for traditional handicrafts and folk arts, and develop sustainable market linkages for women entrepreneurs. Buyer-seller meets are also proposed during the event to facilitate business opportunities.

Through the RajSakhi brand, self-help group products will also get opportunities to connect with digital marketplaces.

The meeting also included discussions on the progress of the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin), or VB–G RAM G.
