Special Attention to Treatment of People Who Came in Contact with Affected Patients; Ensure Complete Treatment Through 14-Day Monitoring of Positive Cases
Immediate Corrective Action Ordered in Areas Showing Slow Progress in Anaemia Management
Jaipur, September 2026 : Principal Secretary, Medical and Health, Gayatri Rathore has directed officials to conduct intensive surveys and ensure special monitoring in areas affected by seasonal diseases, including dengue, chikungunya, malaria and swine flu, as part of efforts to prevent and control their spread across Rajasthan.
She directed that, along with the activities of Rapid Response Teams, regular monitoring of anti-larval measures, source reduction and other preventive activities be undertaken. She also instructed officials to seek necessary support from government and private nursing colleges to accelerate survey activities.
Rathore reviewed seasonal diseases, prevention of swine flu, operationalisation of completed medical institution buildings and various other health services in detail during a video conference meeting held at the Swasthya Bhawan on Saturday.
The Principal Secretary said people who have come in contact with patients affected by swine flu and other seasonal diseases should also be provided necessary treatment services as a precautionary measure. Regular monitoring should be undertaken to ensure the availability and functioning of medicines, diagnostic kits and essential equipment at medical institutions.
She called for special attention to areas reporting a higher incidence of swine flu, particularly slum settlements and hostels in districts with major coaching hubs. Sanitation, intensive surveys and mosquito-control activities should be carried out regularly in these areas. She directed officers at the level of Joint Directors in each zone to ensure regular monitoring of these activities.
Rathore directed medical institutions to reserve separate isolation wards, wherever required, for patients suffering from swine flu, dengue and other seasonal diseases. She also instructed officials to regularly monitor positive patients for 14 days and ensure that they receive complete treatment.
Review of High-Risk Pregnancies and Maternal Deaths
The Principal Secretary also reviewed the management of high-risk pregnant women, deliveries and cases of maternal deaths reported during the past seven days. She said action would be taken against those found negligent at any stage, from antenatal examinations through delivery and postnatal care.
In connection with a maternal death reported in Churu district, she directed officials to conduct the necessary inquiry against the concerned General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) staff member and take strict action.
She also sought feedback on the mentoring being provided by specialist doctors from medical colleges to healthcare workers in districts according to their requirements, and directed that the mentoring process should continue regularly.
Immediate Action on Anaemia Management and Healthcare Infrastructure
Rathore directed officials to take immediate corrective measures in the Bharatpur and Bikaner zones, where progress in anaemia management has remained low.
She instructed officials to make newly constructed medical buildings operational at the earliest and ensure that all necessary facilities are made available there. She also directed officials to expedite the disposal of complaints and information received through the Sampark Portal.
Mission Director, NHM, Jogaram emphasised the need to increase coverage of both doses of the measles-rubella vaccine and HPV vaccination among children. He directed Chief Medical and Health Officers to coordinate with District Education Officers and organise HPV vaccination camps.
He also instructed officials to complete the process of land allotment for newly sanctioned medical buildings at the earliest in coordination with District Collectors. In addition, he directed authorities to ensure the availability of equipment, human resources and other essential services at trauma centres as per the prescribed checklist.
Additional Mission Director, NHM, Dr T. Shubhamangala, Director of Public Health Dr Ravi Prakash Sharma, Director of RCH Dr Madhu Rateshwar and other concerned officials were present at the meeting.
