Major operation against narcotic drugs carried out in Transport Nagar, Lucknow

Major success for the Yogi Government’s zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse
Lucknow, Sept 2026 : As part of the Yogi Government’s ongoing stringent action against the illegal trade of narcotic drugs, a joint team of the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Lucknow Unit and the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) has busted a major network involved in the illegal trade of narcotic drugs in Transport Nagar. During the operation, 9.60 lakh Elzomac-0.5 (Alprazolam) tablets, 1.20 lakh Spasmonam Plus (Tramadol HCL) capsules and 720 bottles of 100 ml codeine-containing Onerex cough syrup were recovered. The recovered medicines approximately weighed 228 kilograms. The team also recovered seven mobile phones and ₹11,140 in cash. Six accused have been arrested under the NDPS Act in connection with the case.
The ANTF team had received information that a large consignment of narcotic drugs was to be delivered in Transport Nagar. During surveillance on September 3, three persons were found concealing cartons in sacks in front of House No. S-363/364. During the search, narcotic drugs were recovered from the possession of Kishan Vaswani, Sameer Ahmad and Shad Irshad. Drug Inspectors of the FSDA, who were present at the spot, collected samples of all three medicines for examination.
During the interrogation, Kishan and Sameer revealed that the medicines had been procured from Umesh Kumar, the operator of Kanhaiya Pharma. Subsequently, Umesh Kumar and Satendra Singh were apprehended. The investigation revealed that Umesh Kumar allegedly used the documents of Satendra Singh’s firm for the billing of narcotic drugs and, in return, paid Satendra a commission.
During the FSDA investigation, Kanhaiya Pharma was found to be storing seven types of medicines, including 1,116 boxes of Proximex-SPAS capsules. The firm failed to produce complete records related to the purchase and sale of the medicines. Subsequently, Kanhaiya's premises was sealed.
During the interrogation of Shad Irshad, the name of Vishal Chaurasia surfaced, following which the team also arrested him. During questioning, Vishal admitted to be supplying narcotic drugs to Shad. He revealed that his drug licence had previously been cancelled after an FIR was registered at Aminabad Police Station in connection with a codeine-related case. Following this, he had allegedly continued the illegal trade in narcotic drugs through other firms. He also stated that he had purchased the recovered codeine-containing cough syrup from Brijesh Verma.
According to ANTF, Kishan Vaswani, Sameer Ahmad, Shad Irshad, Umesh Kumar, Satendra Singh and Vishal Chaurasia were found to be part of an organised network involved in the illegal trade of narcotic drugs. All six accused have been arrested under section 8,21,22 and 29 of the NDPS Act. Samples of the recovered medicines will be drawn before the court in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
