Mumbai, October 2026: The Kamathipura redevelopment project should be implemented in a manner that makes it a guiding and exemplary model for the housing sector across Maharashtra, Minister of State for Housing Dr Pankaj Bhoyar said on Wednesday.
Bhoyar directed that a committee comprising government officials, elected representatives and some office-bearers of the Kamathipura Development Committee should be constituted to ensure the successful completion of the redevelopment project.
The Minister reviewed the demands of the Kamathipura Development Committee at a meeting held at Mantralaya. He said the government would undertake all necessary steps to complete the project and assured that the government was positive about the committee’s demands and would take appropriate action to fulfil them.

“An effort will be made to fulfil all the demands within the framework of existing laws and regulations,” Bhoyar said.
He emphasised the need for close coordination among all stakeholders to ensure that the redevelopment project progresses smoothly and reaches completion. The proposed committee is expected to facilitate coordination between officials, public representatives and members of the Kamathipura Development Committee.
Bhoyar said the government would consider the concerns raised by residents positively and take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
The meeting was attended by MPs Arvind Sawant and Milind Deora, MLA Amin Patel, Additional Chief Secretary of the Housing Department Asim Kumar Gupta, Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board Chief Executive Officer Milind Shambharkar, and office-bearers of the Kamathipura Development Committee.
