Patna, Sep 2026 : The Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas (LJP-RV) has reiterated its ambition to see party chief Chirag Paswan become the next Chief Minister of Bihar, with senior leaders making the declaration during a meeting in Patna on Friday in the presence of Paswan.
LJP-RV National General Secretary and MLA Raju Tiwari and State President Surendra Vivek made the announcement from an open platform, signalling the party’s intention to seek a larger role in the state government following the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
Addressing party workers and leaders, Tiwari expressed confidence that the organisation would continue to expand under Chirag Paswan’s leadership. He said the party had resolved to work towards forming an LJP-RV government in Bihar and fulfil its commitment to making Paswan the Chief Minister.
“We have full confidence that we will progress day by day under the leadership of our leader, Chirag Paswan. For the upcoming Assembly elections, we will resolve to form our party’s government and fulfil the pledge of making Chirag Paswan the Chief Minister,” Tiwari said.
The meeting was attended by several senior party leaders, including State President Surendra Vivek, along with Chirag Paswan. The public declaration assumes significance given the LJP-RV’s position as a constituent of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar.
The party’s open claim to the Chief Minister’s post could trigger further political discussions within the NDA over leadership arrangements and the role LJP-RV intends to play in the state’s electoral contest.
Under Chirag Paswan’s leadership, the LJP-RV has recorded strong performances in recent elections. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party contested five constituencies — Hajipur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Khagaria and Jamui — and won all five seats, maintaining a 100 per cent strike rate.
The party also put up a notable performance in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, contesting 29 seats and winning 19.
The results have strengthened the party’s political standing in Bihar and provided its leadership with greater confidence to seek an expanded role in the state’s governance.
The LJP-RV is currently part of the NDA governments at both the Centre and in Bihar. Its latest declaration regarding Chirag Paswan’s chief ministerial ambition comes as political parties prepare for the next phase of electoral activity in the state.
With the party seeking to project Paswan as its preferred choice for the top post, its position within the NDA and its strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections are likely to remain closely watched in Bihar’s evolving political landscape.
