Madhya Pradesh Soybean Makes its Mark in Global Markets : CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said the State Government is working to ensure farmers have access to quality inputs and irrigation facilities and receive fair prices for their produce in domestic and international markets. With rising global demand for nutrition-based foods, Madhya Pradesh is well positioned to benefit.

The state ranks second in foodgrain production and third in milk production nationally and is also a leading producer of pulses, millets and fish. Madhya Pradesh’s large-scale soybean production is vital to farmers’ livelihoods and the state and national economies. Soybean is a valuable source of income for farmers, a source of nutrition for households and a key raw material for industries.

The state’s soybean is making its mark in global markets, boosting farmers’ incomes and giving fresh impetus to industrial growth. Madhya Pradesh accounts for 45% of India’s total soybean cultivation area and contributes over 35% of the country’s soybean production. Soybean is cultivated in more than 50 districts of the state. To ensure fair prices for soybean growers and recognise their hard work, the State Government launched the Soybean Bhavantar Yojana in October 2025. Last year, approximately 7.17 lakh soybean farmers received ₹1,475 crore in price-difference payments directly into their bank accounts. Registration for the scheme is also being arranged this year. For 2025–26, the minimum support price (MSP) for soybean was fixed at ₹5,328 per quintal. Alongside promoting soybean cultivation, the state is also providing subsidies to food-processing units and related industries associated with soybean.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav believes that soybean’s true potential lies in its value chain. From cultivation and industrial processing to the production of edible oil and protein-based products, and their distribution in domestic and international markets, the entire value chain can enrich farmers and strengthen the national economy.

The State Government is continuously working to strengthen this process, which supports farmers’ incomes, the country’s nutritional security and economic growth. Scientific research related to soybean, modern industrial technologies and investment in the sector are being encouraged. These coordinated efforts, aimed at giving due recognition to farmers’ hard work, are expected to usher in a new era of prosperity for the annadatas.
