Deputy Chief Minister administers cleanliness pledge and honours sanitation workers under Seva Sankalp campaign
Public representatives and citizens undertake shramdaan at Maharajbandh Talab, urge people to keep the city clean
Raipur, September2026: Public representatives, administrative officials, municipal teams, Green Army members, voluntary and social organisations, and citizens came together for a shramdaan initiative under the Swachhata Hi Seva and Seva Sankalp campaigns, sending out a message to keep the city clean and beautiful at all times.
Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Arun Sao participated in the cleanliness drive and administered a cleanliness pledge to the participants. He said cleanliness could not be limited to periodic campaigns and must become a part of daily life. Only then, he said, cities could become clean, beautiful and healthy.
The campaign was organised at Maharajbandh Talab in Mathpara, Raipur. Rajya Sabha MP Lakshmi Verma, MLAs Sunil Soni, Motilal Sahu and Purandar Mishra, Mayor Meenal Choubey, Mahant Ramsundar Das, Collector Dr Gaurav Singh, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sambit Mishra, District Panchayat CEO Kumar Bishwaranjan and SUDA CEO Sumit Agrawal, along with other public representatives, officials and a large number of citizens, participated in the programme.
During the shramdaan, participants jointly cleaned garbage and waste from the Maharajbandh Talab premises. Citizens were encouraged to keep ponds and other water sources clean, avoid throwing waste into water bodies and maintain cleanliness at public places.
The campaign also conveyed the message that maintaining cleanliness in the city was not solely the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation or sanitation workers, but required active public participation.
Administering the cleanliness pledge, Deputy Chief Minister Sao urged citizens to make cleanliness an integral part of their lifestyle. He said efforts to maintain cleanliness would be sustainable and effective only when every citizen considered keeping their surroundings clean a personal habit and responsibility.
He added that while the government was continuously working to keep cities clean and beautiful, active participation from citizens was equally essential.
During the programme, five sanitation workers — Ramesh Sona, Awadhesh Soni, Ghana Kurre, Amit Dhivar and Rahul Rajput — were honoured for their services. The guests appreciated their contribution and highlighted the important role played by sanitation workers in maintaining cleanliness in the city.
MLA Sunil Soni called upon more people to participate in cleanliness campaigns with a spirit of service, participation and social responsibility.
The guests also planted saplings to spread the message of environmental conservation. Linking cleanliness with environmental protection, participants pledged to work towards making the city clean, beautiful and green.
The shramdaan at Maharajbandh Talab, carried out in the spirit of ‘Seva Mera Yogdan’, witnessed the participation of public representatives, the administration, Municipal Corporation teams, the Green Army, voluntary organisations and citizens, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility and public participation in maintaining cleanliness.
