Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said the state government is making every possible effort to bring prosperity to the fields, farms and homes of farmers—the food providers of the nation. The government is working in mission mode to fulfil its goal of ensuring farmers’ welfare and making them prosperous and well-equipped. The Balram Krishi Mahotsav is a meaningful initiative in this direction. The Chief Minister was addressing the Balram Krishi Mahotsav organised in Datia district through video conferencing from the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav noted that it was the last Monday of the holy month of Sawan and prayed to Lord Mahakal that the homes and granaries of all farmers in the state remain filled with food grains and that everyone be blessed with prosperity and well-being.
Datia’s Gud Included Under One District-One Product
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said Datia district is best known for two things—the prasad of Pitambara Mai, which is famous across the country, and Datia’s jaggery, which has been included under the One District-One Product initiative. He said the government is making every possible effort to give Madhya Pradesh’s farmers recognition across the country and is implementing several schemes for their welfare. He said that 10.4 million metric tonnes of wheat were produced this year, adding that wheat would be procured in the coming season at a minimum support price (MSP) of ₹2,700 per quintal.
Farmers to Get Daytime Power for Wheat and Gram Cultivation
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that farmers in Datia, along with those across Madhya Pradesh, would make significant progress through agriculture in the coming years. He said paddy productivity has increased from 32 to 36 quintals per hectare, while the area under groundnut and wheat cultivation has also expanded. In the coming period, farmers growing wheat and gram will receive electricity not only at night but also during the day. He added that farmers can now repay loans taken for fertiliser and seeds during June-July at zero per cent interest. Earlier, such loans had to be repaid by March 31. The government has removed this deadline in farmers’ interest.
Farmers Should Adopt Advanced Technology and Become Self-Reliant
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the times are changing under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and farmers are progressing. He urged farmers to adopt advanced agricultural technologies to increase their incomes and become as self-reliant as possible. The Chief Minister also appealed to farmers to limit weddings expenditure and instead invest more in their children’s education and future. The Chief Minister appealed to farmers not to sell their agricultural land, saying that the future of farming is set to change and agriculture is increasingly becoming a profitable business. He said the state government is promoting animal husbandry, dairy farming and horticulture alongside agriculture to make farmers economically prosperous. The Chief Minister said, “Madhya Pradesh will reach new heights in milk production in the coming years.” The ‘Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana’ promotes Gaupaln, with arrangements for the upkeep of 5,000 destitute cows.
CM Interacts with Young Farmer Through Video Conferencing
During the programme, Dr. Yadav interacted through video conferencing with young farmer Shri Harimohan Rajput, a resident of Badera village in Datia district who is pursuing an MSc in Agriculture, and enquired about his farming activities. Harimohan said he had cultivated sugarcane and had obtained a good yield. The Chief Minister also interacted with other farmers. Talented students from the district were felicitated during the programme.
Display of Advanced Technology and Modern Agricultural Machinery
An agricultural exhibition was organised during the Balram Krishi Mahotsav to familiarise farmers with modern agricultural technologies, machinery and innovative farming methods. Around 16 stalls were set up at the exhibition, where experts provided farmers with information on new technologies useful in agriculture and various government schemes. Modern agricultural machinery displayed included reaper-cum-binder, DSR machines, Happy Seeders, Super Seeders, Smart Seeders, straw reapers, threshers, laser land levellers, seed-cum-fertiliser drills, rotocultivators, rotavators, power sprayers and ploughs, among others. Farmers were briefed on the utility, operation and effective use of these machines in agricultural activities. The Horticulture Department, Krishi Vigyan Kendra and ATMA Project also put up stalls, providing information on natural and organic farming, advanced agricultural practices, modern crop-production technologies, and departmental schemes and programmes. Farmers visited the exhibition and learned about various agricultural machines and technologies.
State in-charge of Balram Krishi Mahotsav Shri Kapil Yarde, Shri Megh Singh Gurjar, Datia MLA Shri Ghanshyam Singh, Chairman of the Agriculture Standing Committee of the District Panchayat Shri Ramnaresh Yadav, Shri Prashant Dhengula, Shri Brijesh Yadav and other public representatives, along with a large number of farmers, were present at the programme.
