Maruti Suzuki Announces Additional Price Hike of Up to Rs 20,000

New Delhi, Sep 2026 : Leading automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India on Monday announced an additional price increase of up to Rs 20,000 on select vehicle models, effective from September, citing continued pressure from rising input costs.

The company said persistent inflationary pressures and an adverse cost environment had continued despite efforts over the past several months to control expenses through various cost-reduction measures.

“With inflationary burdens at elevated levels and the adverse cost environment enduring, the Company is constrained to pass on a portion of the increased costs to the market,” Maruti Suzuki said in a regulatory filing.

The automaker added that it would continue efforts to ensure that the impact of the latest increase on customers remained as limited as possible.

However, Maruti Suzuki did not specify the models or variants covered by the latest price revision, nor did it disclose the revised prices for individual vehicles.

The country’s largest passenger carmaker has periodically adjusted vehicle prices in response to increases in raw material and other input costs. At the same time, the company has undertaken cost-control initiatives aimed at absorbing a portion of the additional expenses and limiting the impact on consumers.

Earlier in August, Maruti Suzuki had announced price increases across its Arena and Nexa product ranges. The previous hike ranged from Rs 2,500 to Rs 30,000, depending on the model and variant.

Other major automobile manufacturers have also raised prices amid continuing cost pressures. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles announced a price increase of up to Rs 25,000 across its passenger vehicle portfolio, covering both internal combustion engine and electric models, effective September 1.

Hyundai Motor India also announced a price increase of up to one per cent across its vehicle portfolio.

The latest round of price revisions comes as automobile manufacturers continue to navigate elevated input costs while attempting to balance inflationary pressures with consumer affordability and demand in the passenger vehicle market.

Higher costs for raw materials, components and other inputs have remained a key concern for automakers, prompting manufacturers to combine internal cost-saving measures with selective price increases.

The impact of the latest increase on Maruti Suzuki’s sales and consumer demand will be closely watched, particularly as manufacturers compete in a price-sensitive market.

At around noon on Monday, shares of Maruti Suzuki were trading at Rs 12,774.95 on the BSE, up 0.6 per cent.
