Chief Minister Announces Development Projects Worth Crores for Srinagar

October 2026 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday attended a programme at Shriyंत्र Island in Srinagar, Pauri Garhwal, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for nine projects worth ₹9.13 crore. A large number of women, senior citizens and young people gathered to welcome him on his arrival in Srinagar.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister launched the city bus service. Through the ‘Sashakt Behna, Sashakt Uttarakhand’ programme, he distributed incentive amounts to women’s self-help groups and provided health and hygiene kits to 51 women environmental workers.

The Chief Minister distributed cheques worth ₹2,01,530 to women belonging to self-help groups, with the aim of supporting their livelihoods.

Dhami said development projects worth more than ₹9 crore had been inaugurated and launched to give fresh momentum to Srinagar’s development. He said the projects would play an important role in expanding basic infrastructure, strengthening public facilities and providing a new direction to local development.

Recalling the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Chief Minister said the Iron Man of India integrated more than 560 princely states and laid the foundation of a united India. Patel envisioned a strong nation where national unity, integrity and sovereignty would remain paramount, and serving the nation would be every citizen’s foremost duty.

The Chief Minister said the state government was working continuously to take Uttarakhand forward on the path of development, good governance and prosperity. He noted that projects worth crores of rupees were underway in Pauri district. The Char Dham Yatra was witnessing a historic increase in pilgrim numbers, directly benefiting local residents.

Dhami said the Central and state governments, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had jointly worked to give Uttarakhand a new direction. The four Dhams had been connected through all-weather roads, with Srinagar serving as an important centre. Work on the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway line was progressing rapidly, and one of its stations would be located in Srinagar, providing direct benefits to local residents.

Fulfilling a long-standing demand of Srinagar residents, the Chief Minister also launched the city bus service after nearly nine years. He flagged off a city bus carrying all the municipal councillors.

Dhami inaugurated an electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Srinagar as well. The facility is expected to encourage the use of electric vehicles and promote environment-friendly transport in the city. The initiative marks an important step towards clean and green urban development.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several development works in the Srinagar Municipal Corporation area. These included a solid waste management and disposal facility, the Late Ranjit Singh Bhandari Garden (a rainwater-harvesting park), road and drain construction, Laxminarayan Park, beautification of parks and other civic amenities. The projects are expected to strengthen the city’s sanitation system, environmental protection and basic civic infrastructure.

His warm interaction with children during the visit was another highlight. Near the college gate, the Chief Minister spotted students, stepped out of his vehicle, setting aside protocol, and went over to speak with them. He enquired about their well-being and interacted with them. The children appeared delighted to meet him.

Cabinet Ministers Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat and Satpal Maharaj, Bharat Chaudhary, Mayor Aarti Bhandari, District Panchayat Chairperson Rachna Butola, District Magistrate Swati S. Bhadauria, Chief Development Officer Ashok Joshi, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and others were present on the occasion.
