Uttarakhand Police to receive prestigious President’s Police Colour on November 6

Dehradun, October 2026: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday unveiled the new flag, emblem, formation sign, insignia, crest and ceremonial uniform of the Uttarakhand Police at a programme held at the auditorium in the Chief Minister’s residence.

On the occasion, he also launched Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, based on the theme ‘Integrity Leads to Prosperity’. The Chief Minister administered the oath of national unity to those present.

He also felicitated Shahjahan Javed Khan and Jagdish Chandra, who were promoted from the Uttarakhand Police Service to the Indian Police Service, by presenting them with insignia and extended his best wishes on their promotion.

Congratulating Uttarakhand Police officers and personnel on the unveiling of the new insignia, Dhami said giving the police force a new identity was not merely a change in symbols and uniforms. It was an important initiative to further strengthen the force's glorious traditions and its core values of valour, discipline and dedication to duty.

He said the new police symbols represented not only pride but also a sense of responsibility. The new identity would earn genuine respect only when every citizen experienced sensitivity in police conduct, efficiency in its functioning and impartiality in its actions.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuous efforts were being made to realise the vision of smart policing across the country. Equipping the Uttarakhand Police with modern technology and making it better trained, efficient and capable remained a priority of the state government.

He said the new motto of the Uttarakhand Police, ‘Karm Satyam Shauryam’, conveyed the values of dedication to duty, integrity and courage. Every police officer and personnel must imbibe these ideals in their conduct and working style. The respect for the uniform is strengthened through conduct, while public trust is built through service, he added.

Dhami said the unveiling of the new insignia on National Unity Day was particularly significant. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first Home Minister and the architect of national integration, had played a historic role in strengthening the country's unity, integrity and internal security.

He said the occasion inspired everyone to further strengthen their commitment to national unity, discipline, dedication to duty and service to the nation.

Vigilance Awareness Week launched; emphasis on integrity and transparency

Addressing the launch of Vigilance Awareness Week, the Chief Minister said that alongside the state's development, it was essential to ensure honesty, transparency and accountability in governance.

He said the true objective of development could be achieved only when government resources were utilised properly and citizens received public services without inconvenience. The state government was following a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, and the Vigilance Department had an important role in ensuring a corruption-free administrative system.

The Chief Minister said that apart from taking action on corruption complaints, it was equally important to address the loopholes that created opportunities for corruption.

He appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to raise their voices against corruption and register complaints through helpline number 1064.

Dhami directed the Chief Secretary to ensure regular reviews of helpline 1064, which has been established to receive corruption-related complaints, just as the Chief Minister's Helpline is reviewed periodically.

He said every complaint lodged against corruption must be taken seriously and appropriate action initiated in accordance with the rules. He also urged all officers and employees to listen sensitively to every person visiting government offices and ensure that their work was completed within the stipulated time.

The Chief Minister said Uttarakhand must establish a corruption-free system where every citizen receives respect, public services are delivered without negligence, and trust between the people and the government and administration continues to grow stronger.

Uttarakhand Police to receive President's Police Colour on November 6

The Chief Minister said it was a matter of great pride for the state that Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah would confer the prestigious ‘President’s Police Colour’ on the Uttarakhand Police on November 6.

On the occasion, Uttarakhand Police personnel would participate in the parade wearing their new ceremonial uniforms.

He expressed confidence that with its new identity, the Uttarakhand Police would establish higher standards of public service, discipline, efficiency and dedication to duty.

New design and features of Uttarakhand Police insignia

The new emblem of the Uttarakhand Police incorporates the Ashoka Pillar, ‘Satyameva Jayate’, a golden laurel wreath, the Himalayas and a river. These elements represent national pride, truth, justice, excellence and the state's distinctive geographical identity.

The earlier three-colour horizontal police flag has been replaced with a new flag featuring a dark blue background, the new police emblem at its centre, and red and golden borders.

The formation signs, insignia and crests used on the uniforms of police officers and personnel have also been redesigned in accordance with the new emblem.

The traditional khaki attire has been complemented with a redesigned ceremonial uniform featuring a multicoloured ceremonial sash, decorations and distinctive parade accessories.

The Uttarakhand Police flag was last unveiled on April 4, 2008. The new insignia and symbols have been developed in view of changing challenges and the expanding responsibilities of the police force.

According to information received from the Police Headquarters, the Chief Minister approved the new design on October 21, 2026.

Prasad, Director General of Intelligence and Security Abhinav Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (Crime and Law and Order) Dr V. Murugesan, Secretary Dilip Jawalkar, R.
