MSRTC Makes ‘Travel Anywhere, Wherever You Like’ Pass Available Online

Online facility to make ST travel easier, reduce queues at bus depots

Mumbai, October 2026: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has decided to make its ‘Travel Anywhere, Wherever You Like’ pass scheme available online to improve convenience for passengers. With this move, commuters will no longer need to visit bus depots to obtain handwritten passes and can instead get their passes online from the comfort of their homes.

According to a circular issued by the MSRTC Transport Department on September 29, 2026, an online system has been introduced for four-day and seven-day passes issued under the scheme. The facility is available on the corporation’s official website and mobile application.

Passengers can obtain their passes online by filling in the required information in accordance with the prescribed rules. The pass can be presented either as a printed copy or as a PDF on a mobile phone. The online facility is expected to make the pass issuance process more transparent, convenient and accessible.

Pass Verification Through QR Code Scanning

The online passes will carry a QR code, which conductors will scan using their Electronic Ticket Issuing Machines (ETIMs) during the journey.

Once the QR code is scanned, details such as the passenger’s name, type of pass, validity period and other necessary information will be displayed on the ETIM device.

The identity document presented by the passenger will also be verified. Travel will be permitted only after the required details and identification have been checked.

Reduced Crowds at Bus Depots

The online pass facility is expected to reduce the need for passengers to stand in queues at bus depots. It will be particularly convenient during holiday periods and the tourist season, when demand for travel passes generally increases.

By digitising the ‘Travel Anywhere, Wherever You Like’ pass scheme, the MSRTC aims to put the facility directly in the hands of passengers and make bus travel more convenient, modern and transparent.
