PM Modi Offers Prayers at Delhi Temple as He Completes 25 Years in Public Service

New Delhi, Oct 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at the Shri Vinayak Temple in Sarojini Nagar, New Delhi, as he marked 25 years of uninterrupted public service as the head of a government, beginning with his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and continuing as Prime Minister.

Modi performed special prayers at the temple and sought the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The visit came on a day marking a significant milestone in his political career, with the Prime Minister reiterating his commitment to serving the country with dedication and sincerity.

After offering prayers, Modi also prayed for the prosperity, well-being and good health of citizens across the country. He expressed hope that India would continue to progress and move forward on its development journey.

In a post on social media platform X, Modi said he had offered prayers at the Shri Vinayak Temple in New Delhi and sought blessings for the happiness, prosperity and good health of people across the country. He also prayed that the blessings of Lord Ganesha, regarded as the remover of obstacles, would ensure the welfare of all and enable the country to continue progressing.

The temple visit coincided with the completion of 25 years of Modi’s public life at the helm of a government. He first became Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001 and served in the position until May 2014.

During his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister, Modi emerged as the state’s longest-serving chief minister. He subsequently moved to national politics and became Prime Minister after the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance secured a majority in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Modi completed his first term as Prime Minister from 2014 to 2019 and returned for a second term after the 2019 general elections. Following the 2024 parliamentary elections, he was sworn in for a third consecutive term as Prime Minister on June 9, 2024.

With his tenure in Gujarat and subsequent years as Prime Minister, Modi has completed 25 years of continuous leadership at the executive level.

The milestone has also been marked by the Union Cabinet. Earlier, the Cabinet passed a resolution congratulating Modi for completing 25 years of continuous service as the head of a government.

The resolution described the occasion as more than a formal recognition, portraying it as a celebration of Modi’s public journey and his emphasis on the principles of “Nation First” and “Citizen First.”

The government and BJP have organised several programmes to mark the milestone, including events highlighting Modi’s years in public service and the vision of building a developed India by 2047.

Modi’s journey from the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office to the Prime Minister’s Office has made him one of the longest-serving elected political leaders in independent India at the head of a government. His completion of 25 years in continuous executive office marks a notable milestone in his political career.

The Prime Minister’s temple visit on Wednesday combined the personal and public aspects of the occasion, with Modi offering prayers for the welfare of citizens while reiterating his commitment to continued service to the country.
