Bhavana Bohra and Laxmi Verma Also Join Women Journalists in Teej Celebrations
Raipur, September 2026: The Raipur Press Club was filled with the colours of Teej on Sunday as women journalists celebrated the festival with traditional fervour, enthusiasm and camaraderie. Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade participated in the celebrations, encouraging the women journalists and sharing in the festive spirit.
Rajwade took part in various activities organised during the event and also walked the ramp in a traditional Chhattisgarhi style. Her warm, simple and informal participation emerged as one of the highlights of the celebration.
Rajya Sabha MP Laxmi Verma and MLA Bhavana Bohra also attended the Teej festival as special guests. Bohra joined the women journalists for a ramp walk, adding to the festive atmosphere, while Verma also participated in the ramp presentation and shared the joy of Teej with the journalists.
The participation of the public representatives added to the enthusiasm among the women journalists and created an atmosphere of togetherness and celebration.
Traditional Attire Highlights Ramp Walk
The ramp walk was one of the main attractions of the Teej festival. Women journalists appeared in traditional attire and showcased simplicity, elegance and confidence as they walked the ramp.
Rajwade’s appearance on the ramp in a traditional Chhattisgarhi style, with her saree pallu covering her head, was particularly appreciated by those present. The presentation was greeted with enthusiastic applause, with the press club premises echoing with cheers and excitement.
Games and Competitions Add to Festive Spirit
Several entertaining games and competitions were organised for women journalists as part of the celebrations. Participants took part enthusiastically, enjoying moments of fun, laughter and friendly interaction.
The activities provided the journalists with an opportunity to take a break from their professional responsibilities and enjoy the festival together. Participants were encouraged throughout the competitions, while their performances were evaluated as part of the various activities.
Minister Praises Contribution of Women Journalists
Speaking on the occasion, Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade said Teej represents Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural traditions and is closely associated with women’s happiness and celebration.
She described the organisation of a Teej festival for women journalists by the Raipur Press Club as a commendable initiative. Rajwade said women are playing important roles in journalism and are contributing significantly to bringing important issues before society.
She said such events provide women journalists with an opportunity to interact with one another, strengthen personal bonds and celebrate together despite their demanding professional responsibilities.
Rajwade extended her greetings to all women journalists on the occasion of Teej.

Return Gifts Presented to Women Journalists
The celebrations concluded with return gifts being presented to all women journalists. The gesture added to the excitement among the participants.
The combination of traditional Teej celebrations, colourful attire, ramp-walk presentations, games and friendly interaction transformed the Raipur Press Club into a festive venue.
Raipur Press Club President Mohan Tiwari, General Secretary Gaurav Sharma, Vice-President Dilip Sahu, Treasurer Dinesh Yadu, Joint Secretary Nivedita Sahu and Bhupesh Jangde were among those present.
Several women journalists who played an active role in organising the event, including Amrita Sharma, Priyanka Kaushal, Meenal Sharma, Akanksha Dubey, Vinita Mandal, Sonal Bhardwaj, Sujata Saha and Ambika Mishra, also attended the programme along with a large number of women journalists and Press Club members.
The event brought together members of the media fraternity in a celebration of Chhattisgarh’s cultural traditions while recognising the contribution and participation of women journalists in public life and the media.
