Patna, September 2026: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday inaugurated the Shri Krishna Mahotsav 4.0-2026, titled “Kanha Ke Rang, Utsav Ke Sang,” by lighting the ceremonial lamp at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The event was organised by the Dussehra Committee Trust, Patna, with the support of the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Bihar, and Satvik Group.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that three large grounds would be developed near Marine Drive by March next year. One of these grounds would be named Ramleela Maidan. He said that Ramleela and Ravan Dahan programmes would be shifted from Gandhi Maidan to the new venue and organised there with proper arrangements. He added that the Dussehra Committee Trust had been organising Ramleela Mahotsav and Ravan Dahan at Gandhi Maidan since 1955 and had been requesting a separate venue for these events for a long time. Directions have been issued to the Patna District Magistrate in this regard. The ground would be handed over to the committee as soon as its construction is completed after March.
The Chief Minister extended his greetings on Shri Krishna Mahotsav and said that Lord Krishna taught people to stand against injustice and conveyed the message of the victory of truth. Referring to the Mahabharata, he said Lord Krishna made every possible effort to establish peace and even suggested giving the Pandavas only five villages. However, war could not be avoided because of injustice. He said Lord Krishna’s clear message was that those who commit injustice would ultimately face destruction. Through the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna guided Arjuna about his duty and dharma. The Chief Minister said that Lord Krishna’s message continues to inspire society to follow the path of truth and justice.
The Chief Minister also referred to the ongoing flood situation in Bihar. He said that the water level in the Ganga is considerably higher than it has been during the same period over the past 10 years. Officials and ministers have been deployed in the districts located along the Ganga basin, while the government is closely monitoring the situation. He said large quantities of water are also entering Bihar through the Son and Gandak rivers. People in Bihar face difficulties every year due to water flowing in from the Terai region of Nepal.
He said the government has begun work on a comprehensive plan to manage the Kosi, Gandak and Ganga basins in a systematic manner. In coordination with the Central Water Commission, work will also be undertaken to develop roads along the banks of the rivers and arrangements for water transportation so that difficulties faced by people during the monsoon can be reduced.
The Chief Minister said the Bihar government is working in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India to make Bihar prosperous and developed as well. He said a comprehensive roadmap is being prepared to transform Bihar into a prosperous state in accordance with the vision of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Choudhary congratulated the Dussehra Committee Trust for organising the Shri Krishna Mahotsav and Dahi Handi competition, saying such events help take Bihar’s Sanatan traditions and Indian culture to people across the state.
On the occasion, members of the Dussehra Committee Trust felicitated the Chief Minister by presenting him with an angavastram and a memento. A Dahi Handi competition was also organised during the programme, in which the Chief Minister personally participated and encouraged the contestants.

Sharma, other officials, dignitaries, members of the Dussehra Committee Trust and a large number of people were present at the event.
