‘Seva Mera Yogdan’ Campaign Spreads Cleanliness Message on Gandhi Jayanti

Collective shramdaan held at Donga Ghat along Hasdeo River as public representatives, officials and citizens join hands to clean the riverbank

Raipur, October 2026: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a message of public participation in cleanliness was conveyed across Janjgir-Champa district under the Seva Sankalp campaign and the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ initiative. A special cleanliness and collective shramdaan programme was organised at Donga Ghat along the banks of the Hasdeo River under the ‘Seva Mera Yogdan’ initiative.

Janjgir-Champa Collector Janmejay Mahobe participated in the cleanliness drive along with public representatives, government officials and employees, sanitation workers known as ‘Swachhta Didis’ and local citizens. The participants collectively cleaned the riverbank and surrounding areas, reinforcing the importance of keeping public places and water sources clean.

Collective Shramdaan Along Hasdeo River

During the campaign, cleanliness activities were carried out across the Donga Ghat premises and adjoining areas of the Hasdeo River. Public representatives, officials, employees and citizens enthusiastically participated in the shramdaan and contributed to cleaning the riverbank.

The initiative sought to spread awareness about maintaining cleanliness in public spaces and protecting water sources from waste and pollution. Citizens participating in the programme also pledged to fulfil their responsibility towards cleanliness and keep their surroundings clean.

Public Participation Essential to Make Cleanliness a Mass Movement

Collector Janmejay Mahobe said cleanliness is not the responsibility of any single individual or organisation but a collective responsibility of everyone.

He appealed to citizens to keep their homes, neighbourhoods, public places and riverbanks clean and ensure that waste is disposed of only at designated places. He said public participation was essential to transform cleanliness into a mass movement and contribute to building a cleaner and more beautiful society.

The ‘Seva Mera Yogdan’ initiative also sought to connect voluntary community service with social responsibility. Through the collective shramdaan, citizens were encouraged to participate regularly in cleanliness activities and contribute to maintaining clean public spaces and water bodies.

The campaign on Gandhi Jayanti highlighted the importance of community participation in achieving cleanliness goals. By bringing together elected representatives, government personnel, sanitation workers and citizens, the initiative sought to strengthen awareness that maintaining cleanliness requires sustained participation from society.

Municipal Council Champa President Pradeep Namdev, Municipal Council Vice-President Amarjeet Khatkar, along with public representatives, government officials and employees and Swachhta Didis, were present on the occasion.
